How do u remove...

how do u remove the governor out of a 89 RS with a 2.8...andis the 2.8 in my camaro a 2.8 MPFI or something else...ive owned alot of camaros 85 or older and they were....

If your V6 is fuel injected and made before 1990, then you have an MPFI 2.8. If it's 90-92, it's an MPFI 3.1. And I believe 82-84 got a carbureted 2.8. The governor....I assume it's programmed into the computer's PROM. You'd have to replace that with a custom one to disable the speed limiter....that's my guess anyways.

thats what i though i just wanted to prove to someone thats what it was...oh, i thought hte governor might be somewhere else, anyone know what speed it kicks in at?

you can also disconnect your speedo cable
but you obvioulsy wont have a speedo to tell what speed your going

i had a 85 that must not have has a governor in it, i wrap the speedo around to like 20....it was a 85 mph speedo though

I thought the governor was set at 110? Or was it 115 for the 85 mph speedo cars and 110 for the 110 mph speedo cars?

It can vary a bit. I think GM did this to make it harder to find the location within the cal. My '92 was set at 115 off, 112 back on.

The rev limiter is set to 6,212 RPM off, then back on at 5,985 RPM. They are the factory settings.
