engine rev's up at startup

i seem to be having a bit of a problem, the car runs fine, but when i start her up she revs up to like 1500 rpm and stays there for a few seconds then slowly revs back down to proper idle like 700-600 rpm or so, this also happens when im stopping at a street light she rev's up the slowly drops to idle again. now the timing is dead on, and i did time the car with that timing advance wire disconnected just like the manual says. so it cant be the timing. so does anyone have any good ideas?

I don't have a V6 but mine does that too. As 2_point8_boy said its pretty normal (correct me if I'm wrong here), I've owned this car for 6 yrs. and it has done it since day 1.

High idle when cold is normal.

Idle going high when stopping, my auto doesn't do that.

How much does the idle go up? When you unload the engine by pushing the clutch it will go up some. But not as much as what it does during cold startup.

Clean the TB and the IAC and see if it still does it.

My manual trans does it just slightly, like only 300 rpm, when you unload it. It's a stupid emissions thing. The reason it dies it is to keep the throttle from slamming shut(causing only idle flow through) after the injectors have fired to protect the cat, because it'll cause an instantly unltrarich mixture, it only lasts for 1 rpm, but apparently that's too much.

well its a 5speed and when i do unload the engine it does rev up, but she idles at 500 rpm or so, and when it starts up, or when i unload the engine, she gains like 1000-1500 rpm, which is no small gain in rpm. and this just started to happen, it never did before
any ideas?
