It's been fun...

Well guys, it's been fun. But in lieu of spending thousands restoring my 1991 Firebird 3.1 V6 AT and hundreds here and there just to keep it running, I opted to get a newer, lower mileage car that I feel I can rely on for at least a little while.

I have just bought a Black 1999 Firebird with 44000 miles, 4 wheel disc ABS brakes, Cruise Control, Tilt Steering, T-Tops, Air Conditioning, Dual Front Air Bags, Dual Power Seats, Power Windows, Power Locks, Power Mirrors, Tan Leather Interior, 6 Cylinder 3.8L 3800 Series II Engine, and a 5 Speed Manual Transmission for $7400.

The 91 went on trade in the deal. I pick it up tomorrow.

^hell yes

damn

you could've even swapped in an entire LS1 drivetrain with similar mileage for that price I bet... rear end and all.

if you pulled it yourself, then you could DEFINITELY have done it with money left over for a couple goodies.

It wouldn't have been worth it. The body wasn't very straight, and alot of rust was starting to appear on the undercarraige.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your purchase.

I too sold my 1992 camaro for a newer Car.

I bought a 2000 camaro about 3 months ago.
I love it dearly, if I had to make the choice again I would do the same.

Now go mod that bird and get it into the mid 14's

May I suggest exhaust:

Ya know, I always say "I'll do engine/mechanical work all day, but I can't stand doing bodywork". Then I usually say "and I hate rust!!!"

Congrats on the new purchase; http://www.camaroz28.com has a lot of 4th gen 3.8 guys, kinda like the equivilant of these forums. I knew a few of them from an old website; those guys really knew their stuff with the 3.8!

Well, I picked up the car, and I love it. I do have one question though that the dealer can't seem to answer for me, I know this isn't third gen, but if anyone knows please help.

The car has power locks. It also has an alarm. The dealer didn't have a remote transmitter. But since it has an alarm doesn't that mean I would need one? And given that, wouldn't that mean the car has keyless entry? I need to know so I can get a replacement transmitter.

Yes you should get a transmitter with the car keys.

My 2000 has a transmitter for keyless entry/ Hatch release/ and yelp.

Go talk to the dealer about ordering you a replacement, I beleive that through the vin # they may be able to tell you the transmitter number.

If anything PM me I have like three that I got after market, Maybe I could help you.

The person who traded in the car left the transmitter in South Carolina. I live in NY. They acted like it was a big deal and the guy said he'd rather cut me a check.

My biggest problem is that, not only can't I use my RKE, but with the factory alarm, the only way to disarm it once you open the door is to put the key in the ignition. It's a real PITA.
