Axle/Gears: Stock 3.23 open diff
Coil removal
I just bought a GM blaster coil from summit and I was looking at the old coil and noticed it was riveted on. How do you get it off and how do you put the new one on??

i recently installed a accel coil on my car and the old coil was the same way yours is so i took needle noose pliers and broke the old brackets off till the coil would remove then installed the new coil the same way as the last one was on there but i used the screws and new brackets my coil came with.

I just took a chizzel SP? and a hammer and 1 good pound on each rivit and they broke off. they are very soft.

the easiest way to remove any rivet witout messing anything up is a drill bit, in this case a 1/4" will do great. took me 5 minutes for all of them. you may not be able to do that if you have a/c without a right angle drill. the new coil should come with screws, just watch cause i kept droping the freggin things down onto the valvecovers, i cut the heck out of my hand trying to get them back......

BUT WHY BOTHER?
SEE BELOW
Works great!
Less effort, better results and ya can leave old one alone.
Be careful of the old damn clips, they break, easily.
