Best V6?

Guys i got a wee-tad of a problem. i have a 3.1L stock V6 and i want to make it go just a little bit faster (basicly where my speedometer will bounce at 120 m.p.h. ) and have a sound that puts some V8s to shame. If i can do that with my enigine with an overhaul and some exhaust modifications, etc. tell me what will work and what wont and if not what would be the best V6 out there that i can do that to. Thanks guys

Well, the first thing I would tell you to do is a search, this subject has been covered countless times and now this thread is going to just add to the pile. I know there's a lot of reading, but searching and reading the posts will not only get you the info you need in the future, but will also cut down on the number of "what can I do to make my car fast" posts. :steeping off soapbox:

Well, you're never going to put a V8 to shame with a 6 cylinder. They sound good at idle with a good muffler on them, but sound like crap once you start revving, it's the way the motor is.

I have a 115 speedo right now and I can peg mine with a 2.8L, so your 3.1 should be able to do it if it weren't for the speed limiter.

The best v6 for the money and modifications it takes to install is by far the 3.4L out of early 4th gen 6-ers.
