89 RS 2.8 another cranks wont start
First of all this forum has been invaluable these past couple of weeks. I bought a 89 rs that had been sitting for years and can only run on a squirter of carb cleaner. First thing I did was jumped the fuel pump and pumped out the gas, burnt out the pump and replaced pump and filter. Pulled injectors and cleaned until I had a good spray pattern. Checked resistance on injectors and all at 14-15 ohms. Both banks of injectors are firing according to noid light.
Spark looks yellow and replaced the plugs. Pickup coil resistance was on the low end but within specs, replaced anyway. Resistance on the ignition coil was out of spec and replaced. No change in spark color with these changes. Pressure at fuel rail holds at 40 psi and can smell fuel on the plugs.
I can't get the ICM tested, O'Reilly and autozone both said they don't have the equipment to test anything anymore. It's my understanding if ICM isn't working it wouldn't get spark. Anyone got any ideas? Something I overlooked. Thanks

PS, have you ensured 11 or 12 volts on the fat pink wire at the coil while your cranking the starter?

An ICM most certainly can fail such as to produce a weak fizzle of a spark, VS a nice bright blue ZAP. Most do fail wide open (no spark whatsoever) but I've seen my fair share fail in such a way to produce the soggy fizzle. I gotta be honest with ya here, I'm kinda surprised you'd go to all the trouble of replacing the pickup coil, for which you had to remove and disassemble the distributor, and then put it all back together with the same old ICM
