Hey guys im thinking about putting some Y2K wheels on my 86 TA. Does anyone know how much a single wheel weights? Or what size spacers are needed to mount these on a 3rd gen trans am?
Thanks

Re: Y2k Wheels

i have them and looked up their weight, they weigh around 26lbs, and more for reproductions. you need 2" spacers front and back i think, double check on the rears

Re: Y2k Wheels

Those wheels look sweet on that car. Nice car too. What size tires are you running? Are all of your rims 17s or are the front 17s rear 18s?

Re: Y2k Wheels

245x45x17 front and 275x40x18 rear

2" spacers all around is ideal
I have 1.5" spacers up front and ground some off the tierod ends

Rear fenderwells needed some hammering near LCA

Nothing too bad

don't know if off-set is the same as 16" Y2K's but just to throw it out there....I ran 2" up front, and 1 5/8" on rear....

Re: Y2k Wheels

I tried 1.5" in the rear but the clearance was about 1/8" near the LCA. Too close for comfort

2" is ideal. It fill the fenderwell without going past it and cutting the tire

Re: Y2k Wheels

I'm pretty sure they weigh less than 26 lbs. That's more than TT2 wheels...

TT2's are American Racing Torque Thrust 2's.

Also, Sailtexas, I've seen your car on these boards several times over the years, but that new hood really makes it stand out now! Looks great!

possible, i though it was high to, but thats what i found in a list like the one posted above, and with all the BS on the intrawebz its entirely possible that its incorrect. also that could be for a replica and was listed as the OEM weight. i can say my replicas are HEAVY - 26lbs doesnt seem unreasonable, i really want to get rid of them.

Re: Y2k Wheels

sailtexas186548... I love those wheels on your car! How wide are they and what spacers are you running... 2" front/1.75" rear? I need new tires badly (2/32 of tread left front and 1/32 left in the rear) and I figured I would upgrade to 17's to try and get rid of some sidewall at the same time. Are the staggered sizes noticeable or not? I can never find only 17x9/9.5 wheels... it is always a 17/18 combo. I'm also having difficulty finding the grey wheels like you have. All I can find is either chrome or polished.

they are 17X8.5 up front and 18X9.5 out back. up front i have 2" spacers, and in the rear i have a 1/8" slip on spacer and a 4th gen rear. my wheels are chrome lol, i have a crappy camera. staggered.. ehh it works for c5s and c6s right? i think thats all about car/suspension set up. ive been autocrossing it a bunch lately so im gonna shoot you a pm to not clutter this thread!

fake edit: you have more tread than me!
