22" rims on a thirdgen f-body isn't realistic. The diameter of the tires for our cars are 26", which leaves 2" of rubber on each side. It would be like riding in a train that isn't on tracks. You'd have to put your thirdgen on a Blazer frame to get a reasonable sidewall on a 22" rim!

22" rims on a thirdgen f-body isn't realistic. The diameter of the tires for our cars are 26", which leaves 2" of rubber on each side. It would be like riding in a train that isn't on tracks. You'd have to put your thirdgen on a Blazer frame to get a reasonable sidewall on a 22" rim!

yeah Ethan, I got out my decoder ring and translated the original post to english! Wd.greene, those examples are vomit inducing. I don't think any active members on this site have interest in doing that to their cars, so you're better off asking the owners of those two cars if you for some reason want to do that to your car. I'll also mention that you should expect an incredibly harsh ride and frequently damaged rims and tires driving that on real streets that have bumps and the occasional pot hole or even sewer lid.

As you can see the car with 24" wheels sits about 1 foot in the air, so yeah its lifted, 20's are as big as anyone should ever go

I only saw one 92 firebird 20s that actually looked really good, would I ever do it? hell no but it did look good. Alot of people on hear do tacky stuff the third gens anyway but beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

22inch on a f body looks good, to each his own as said above. The motor is what matter anyway. and again to each his own, so hav v6.. i need v8. I was eventually planning to put a AIR RIDE TECH, air system. now... do you think the ride will be ruff or smooth???

I highly doubt my camaro will be slower on 22s with the 400 bored .30 over, so 406 small block engine I am buildin now. Nd its no where near stock, I can estimate about 450hp out of the set up im trying to research. Soon as I find a posi rear end with disc breaks. I cn spin the tires sooo easy lol

A part of me just died inside watching those videos. Your car will not perform to its potential on 22's like it would on 17 or 18 inch rims. But in the end its your car so do what you want. Just don't expect much support here.

As stated before it's your car, do what u want but take this advice from a 29yr old black man that likes rap, jazz, r&b and a bunch of other styles of music. If you want a fast car then don't put huge rims and an air ride system on it, that's kinda defeating the purpose. The biggest I would go personally is 20's. I went with 17's because I really didn't want to lower the car 18's would've been really nice though.

like has been already mentioned, those monster wheels will get destroyed if you hit a pothole, and the ride quality will be really harsh in anything but perfect pavement.
I have seen 20's on these cars done right and they look fine if the wheels are tasteful and with a slightly taller than stock tire. But too much taller and you will start to rub the front tires when turning.

It would look dumb as hell. If youre thinking of throwing big wheels on a 3rd gen I don't think you're driving the right kind of car. It bothers me when people have bad taste and just want to throw "Dubz" on their cars. 3rd gens aren't Lincoln Navigators. And both those camaros in the videos look stupid.
But that's just my 2 cents, everyone's entitled to their own decisions.

What style rims are u looking at? From what I know most big body cars need adapters to run the bigger rims. Hell I need em for my 17x9.5" rims. I don't know if you're gonna have a ton of choices for a front 17x8.5" rim but I'm no expert. I think my car rides terrible with the stock gold spokes but I'm just use to my Grand Prix. Don't forget it is a 3rd gen.

The staggered look would look a hundred times more fit for a Camaro. All we're saying is it's not right for 22s to be on these kind of cars, it won't ride well, it won't handle well, and it doesn't look good.

What style rims are u looking at? From what I know most big body cars need adapters to run the bigger rims. Hell I need em for my 17x9.5" rims. I don't know if you're gonna have a ton of choices for a front 17x8.5" rim but I'm no expert. I think my car rides terrible with the stock gold spokes but I'm just use to my Grand Prix. When youre on the sites, do a search for 4th gens for wheels. They have greater selection and then you just need to buy spacers. Check out skulte for wheel spacers.

I personally think anything over 17s look ridiculous, but Im a form over function kinda guy - it needs to have a racecar attitude. I can handle 18s, but beyond that it's too much.
That said, there are some members here who've done a staggered setup, and even though I dont particularly like the extreme he went to, it's within tolerable limits for me to appreciate his car and a lot of people here LOVE this car the way he did it. Maybe it'll give you some ideas, it's an IROC with 18s on the front and 20s on the back.

I love it, but could never do it in Alberta. She'd get trashed. Up here max on a 3rd gen id say is 18s... But i'm only looking at throwing 17s on my GTA.
I love it, but could never do it in Alberta. She'd get trashed. Up here max on a 3rd gen id say is 18s... But i'm only looking at throwing 17s on my GTA.

What style rims are u looking at? From what I know most big body cars need adapters to run the bigger rims. Hell I need em for my 17x9.5" rims. I don't know if you're gonna have a ton of choices for a front 17x8.5" rim but I'm no expert. I think my car rides terrible with the stock gold spokes but I'm just use to my Grand Prix. Don't forget it is a 3rd gen.
Well I have centerlines on my car 18x9.5 all 4 corners with 6in backspacing and no spacers. Staggered tires 275/35/18front(the biggest you should go on the front), 285/35/18rear.

Centerline will make the wheel for you with any backspacing you want.

To all of you Conservatives, no one asked you to judge how you feel about the wheels, no one gives a sh#t whether you like or how ridiculous a big rim looks on a car, just answer the question and if you don't know, don't respond. Its simple, when you feel that none on "this" site would wanna put big wheels on their cars, what exactly are you trying to say? or if you want a seperate narowminded stock wheel site then start one and refrain from the ******* talk. BTW I'm black and I'm from Mississippi. and yes 22s will fit and won't rub, a 22x8- 9.5 will fit the front without rub with a 4.5-5" backspacing, and 22x9.5 - 11 will fit in the rear with the same. as long as its a 30, or 35, remember 245/50/16, 245/45/17, 275/40/18, 245/35/20, 255/30/22, its simple. it looks fine ride ht, but would really look great lowered an inch or two. thats my two cents.
