GTA 16x8 wheel weight?
Does anyone know how much a factory 16 inch GTA wheel weights? I am thinking about buying a set of them from Classic industries and I was just curious to see how much they original ones weight compared to the Aftermarket wheels?

The crosslace wheels are only 16lbs each. Lightest factory 3rd gen wheels ever made.

Re: GTA 16x8 wheel weight?
When I bought my set from Classic Industries about 15 years ago, I was amazed at how much LIGHTER they were than the stock Formula 5 blade wheels I was taking off. My stock wheels were getting the crazed clearcoat all over them and the Classic wheels looked just like the factory GM wheels for A LOT LESS. All that was missing was the GM emblem on the back of the rear hub. The quality has been EXCELLENT because up to now I do not have a single crack in the clear coat and the wheels still look like the day I put them on!

I think the old Classic Industry wheels were good pieces, but they changed supplier or something, now not so good. but if I remember right, someone is/will be making another replica in at least a couple sizes. I hate it when I can't remember stuff like that, I think is was in a Hot Rod or Gm High Tech, in the back where they show new parts, should be in the last 6 months or so.

pretty sure the wheels from 15 years ago were probably NOS wheels.

Re: GTA 16x8 wheel weight?
I paid $500.00 for the SET when the same looking GM wheels were like $235.00 EACH. AS I had stated, the ONLY difference was that when I compared them to a OEM wheel was that the GM emblem was NOT cast into the back of the hub. All the other markings were the same. I thought at the time that they were a fantastic bargain to have wheels that looked just like the Black Trans Am wheels. As a matter of fact, the Black Trans Am wheels were a NO COST option on the 1991-92 Formulas, so it gave the car a more original appearance that I was looking for.

Re: GTA 16x8 wheel weight?
hmm.
so the earlier wheels were nice, the current ones, as far as i have heard, suck. must be cast in china now with recycled tinfoil and uranium like everything else they make.

I've heard the same opinion you have about the current ones being sub-par, but are there any pictures or evidence of this being the case? It'd be nice to see objective images that show how they are of poor quality rather than just believing it to be true because it was posted somewhere.

Re: GTA 16x8 wheel weight?
I ordered a new set of the gold gta style rims from Classic Industries. They are a excellent quality product no complaints what so ever. They weight in under 16 pds each, I plan on painting them silver and then I will post a pic.
