White raised letter tires questions

I am going to put tires on my 15" 88 Z-28 original 5 spoke wheels recently powder coated textured silver but do not now wich way i should go. White letter tires or black wall, need some ideas. I found on TireBuyer.com on a set of 235/60/15 white raised letter Firestone FIREHAWK INDY 500 for $375.00 deliverd to my home, Is this a good deal and is this tire a good one to have?

This is a personal choice that you are going to have to make.

Re: White raised letter tires questions

I personally think white letters out looks a hell of a lot better on the stock rims. I had mine switched around last summer from black walls to white letters out, and i wish i would've done it years ago.

Re: White raised letter tires questions

Agreed it is personal preference. The original "Eagle GT"'s had the white edge lettering and I think most stuff has gone to black walls.

The white lettering still has a good old school look to it.

Re: White raised letter tires questions

Thanks guys for helping me make a choice, I went with the Cooper Cobra Radial GT on a 235/60/15. Just ordered from THREADEPOT.COM for $90.00 each, not a bad deal. Can not wait to put them on my Z.

I just got those same tires. I had the firehawks before that, the thread pattern looks meaner on the cobras. Not sure what rides better

Here's when I had my white letter tires on. Makes the car look more old school imo, but there just not wide enough for my taste.

Unless you are going fore pure factory original concourse look those are not the tires to buy.

Tires have made massive strides in compound and tread design over the last 20 years. I'm sure there are other white letter tires that perform better than the Eagle GTs.

Why sacrifice the grip offered by newer tires just to have the "original" if not doing a concourse restoration.

Because they are not the original compound. they may not be the best compound but not the original one. The thread is about raised white letters and this fits that bill and does it with the look that most prefer (outlined). also the compounds that are being offered with raised white letters at this time are not that great and not leading edge.

I changed my 91 z28 tires from blackwall to raised white letters and i love them. Not everyone agrees however.
