Wheel Spacers required for rim changeout??

HI...installing new 16X8 American Racing with zero offset.
The 1991 has different front rear offsets. It looks that the front will fit the same, but the rear will be deeper into the car by about 30MM.
Will Spacers be required to keep them the same distance from the car?

Tks!!

Spacers would push them even further out than where front wheels are pushed out to. Just run four 0 offsets front & rear & you will be fine. Also allows you to rotate your tires without have to dismount & remount & balance the tires like the stock wheels required.

It is a common thing for people to do running stock wheels to run 4 Fronts all the way around.

Your rears will not be "deeper", they will actually stick out more by 16mm on each side (the stock rear offset is -16mm). Some people like the look, some don't, but unfortunately, spacers will not help you on the rear (as BlackenedBird said).

I run the equivalent of 4 fronts (fronts on rear, rears on front with big brakes and spacers), and I've experienced no clearance issues. The rears are pushed out a little more than I'd like, but it's not bad.

Re: Wheel Spacers required for rim changeout??

Ahhh...thanks for the info.
So here it is...the clearance on the new american racing 16X8 iroc chrome rims is almost 4 1/2 inches deep:

The front rims are 4 1/2 inches deep:

And the back are 5 1/8 deep:

So the front ones are preety much the same, and the rear will stick out a roughly 3/4 of an inch more...no big deal.
So spacers will not be required after all.
Thanks guys for the info, it makes it alot clearer!!

Re: Wheel Spacers required for rim changeout??

I was trying to wrap my head around why spacers were not required and zero off-sets were OK when the orginal rims had "front" and "rear" stamped on them.

I can now see that the orginal front rims would fit on the back no problem, but if you put the rear ones on the front, because they are deeper, they would be in closer to the brake lines etc and would cause damage.

Tks again!

Or you can get the thin slip on spacers & put the Rear wheels on the front & the Front wheels on the rear. The factory slip-on (i believe are just under 1/4" thick) spacer works great or just find an aftermarket one of the same thickness.

Then you have put the "deeper looking" Front wheels on the rear & "shallower looking" Rear wheels on the front which will clear the calipers just fine because of the spacer. Been that way on my late wife's 90 RS (which is now her daughters car) for like 13/14 years.

I run these, but I also have 1LE brakes which I believe push the hub surface out a bit-

You could consider these-

As I said, I run the setup that Blackened mentioned, rears on the front with those spacers, fronts on the rear. I don't think you'll need them with the 0 offset wheels all the way around, since my spacers and brakes are essentially making up for the -16mm offset of the stock rear wheel. Also, you'd probably need longer wheel studs to run the spacers (I have 2.5" studs).

You really shouldn't make statements based on pure speculation. Don't you think that if the car I mentioned above (MY old car) had longer studs, I would have mentioned that? You do NOT need longer studs. The ones I used were FACTORY spacers used on the rear of aluminum drum cars & even the factory rears that came with them did not have have longer studs than rears without them.

Re: Wheel Spacers required for rim changeout??

Sorry, I was referring to the spacers I linked to, which were thicker than the ones you mentioned. That's also why I said "probably".
