Hi Everyone,

I've been debating on new wheels for my 92 Camaro for awhile.
I would like to get a more modern looking wheel, in either 17 or maybe an 18.

But I'm having the hardest time finding anything that will actually fit my car.

From my understanding we need an offset of 0 and a bolt pattern of 5x120.7?

I currently have the stock brakes, don't know if I'll ever upgrade to something bigger. But something to keep in mind I guess. I have 16's now, and want to go with a slightly bigger wheel, slight smaller sidewall tire, and not too wide where it sticks past the fender well.

I just can't find anything in a more modern type wheel that appears to fit?

I saw these, and thought these look nice, but the bolt pattern doesn't match. I'm not sure about the offset, they list them with an inset?

Thanks for the links, but those are not really what I'm looking for.
Those look more like just larger versions of what came stock on these cars originally.

I'm hoping to find something more modern looking, something similar to the image I attached. In a black pearl, or black chrome, graphite type of colors. My car is red, with black highlights.

I agree that there aren't many modern wheels that match our cars. I think those CTW wheels look like something from Canadian Tire that you'd put your winter tires on.

TSW makes some wheels in the style you posted, both 17" and 18", but you'd have to run the BMW bolt pattern and you would probably still need spacers.

What I've considered is getting 20mm PCD adapters to go from 5x120.65 to 5x114.3, which is a lot more common. Not too many wheels are made at +0 offset anymore.

I don't think you understand wheel sizing. Zero offset can mean a lot of different things spending on the width of the wheel in question.

You can fit just about any wheel with spacers - if you don't want spacers, you are going to have a short list of wheels.

One can finish most any wheel in paint or powdercoat of any color imaginable - think about that also.

Also keep in mind that only the niche aftermarket companies and custom forged wheel companies make direct fit wheels today. The rest of the wheel manufacturers don't care about third gens right now - in general we are a bunch of cheap asses with inexpensive cars whose owners don't want to spend a dime more than they need to.

No I fully understand wheel offsets, but I imagine anyone going up to a 17" or 18" wheel will also go up in width. A 9.5"-10" wheel with zero offset can fit our cars very nicely depending on the tires. A lot of more modern styled wheels have an offset too high for us to use without spacers (in the +30 range).

I don't care too much about spacers, but seems like the bolt pattern is also an issue.

What do you mean by direct fit? Meaning the make wheels to order? I'm sure that's going to be out of my price range for sure.

Figure out what you want as far as look.
Understand that a 4th gen rear swap is going to open up options when it comes to combining the wheel styles you like and available offsets for no adapters / spacers.
Upgrade your front brakes, and figure out what you can do there accordingly. Most brake options push the hub out some, putting you closer to being able to run those +20mm or whatever wheels.
Third gens can run a little bit of positive offset, plus a brake upgrade may put you where you need to be.

Another pattern to watch for is what offsets are being made commonly in 120mm pattern. TSW, for example makes multiple styles in 18x9.5" +20mm. If you find that several manufacturers are making the same offset, you may want to build the car accordingly.

Why all that work? 'Cause the options in wheels that just fit right on without additional work is slim pickings. Get used to it.

Direct fit means no spacers or hub washer to fit correctly. There are several wheels on the market in 17" that fit that bill - yet are affordable. I did mention them earlier in the thread.

Modern wheel styles are only going to work for the 3rd gens with spacers - unless you want to pony up big bucks for custom wheels.

Nothing wrong with using spacers these days. I use them and actually like the look of them. I wrapped mine in carbon fiber vinyl. What about some thing like these? I love the look and to me is a modern take on the IROC wheel. I think they will look great on a red car.

There are thousands of awesome wheels out there, so don't let something like the lack of an easy fitment limit your choices and prevent you from getting "the one" you like best. Stay patient, and keep searching until you find the wheel you want. It's out there somewhere.

I spent a year, continuously searching, day-and-night, week-in-and-week-out, thousands of wheels, until I made my final decision. It was worth the time and effort I'd invested.

I chose Enkei, but not the wheel you posted above, which is a nice one and resembles a style seen on several new, sporty cars. But I didn't consider Enkei until about 5 months into my search, when I saw a wheel that I really liked, and it turned out to be from Enkei. Then after looking into Enkei, I was surprised by the excellent quality and standards(had always thought of them as second-class, but that's not the case at all), modern and classic styles, lightweight, affordable, even the customer service is excellent. Enkei is in Dallas, TX, and southern Indiana, with the IN location handling OE, and the TX location handling the aftermarket. They also have a lot of videos on youtube where they show and describe many of their wheels and finishes, which are helpful too. But, as I've already said, there are thousands of nice wheels on the market, and Enkei is just one of many.

I, too, wanted a modern appearance, but the odds of finding such a wheel with a zero offset were slim, as most wheels today have large positive offsets. Even if you chose a wheel with the correct bolt pattern, such as Corvette or 4thgen wheels, then odds are that it will have a large offset, and you will still need adapters. So because you're likely to need adapters anyway, then don't worry about the bolt pattern either, although I would still recommend the widest bolt pattern for its larger appearance. So take your time and search-out the style of wheel that really strikes you as THE ONE(you will probably find several), regardless of fitment, then make it fit.
