T56 shifter

ok guys, I'm getting the aftermarket t56 for my car and want to put a b&m ripper shifter on it...my question is, am I supposed to buy the universal t56 one( pn 45053) or the one for 4th gen f-bodies with a t56 (pn 45052)

The 4th gen will not fit. I didnt know they made an aftermarket one. I have my T-56 for about five years and would like to upgrade the shifter. Where did you find this part number. Thanks, Jay

you have the aftermarket t56? so the 4th gen shifter didn't fit the bolt pattern? I guess I will have to go with the universal t56 shifter from b&m....45053....I got it off of their website, in the tech section. if that one doesn't work then I will be very upset.

I did not have an aftermarket T56, but one out of a 96. The 4th gen one worked fine.

It looks as though that is the correct part for the aftermarket T-56(BMM-45053). Jegs doesnt show a part number and sumit says its out of stock. I'm going to call and check to see how log before they are in stock.

if you click the b/o link it pops up a box that says it will be a month....guess I'll be waiting on the shifter or using the factory one til I can get the ripper...oh well, it'll be worth the wait.

why not just get a Pro 5.0 from Thunder Racing for $180?

because I'd rather have the b&m...I've shifted with them and they are so solid, I just love the feel of them, so I am willing to go through any trouble I have to to have one. Pro 5.0s seem to cost more also, and have some spring mechanism, I don't want that, I'm just looking for something solid that I can bang the gears with all day long.

If you order now they are $189. Summit said they are going up $10 when they become available. Does the pro 5.0 shifter fit the aftermarket T-56? It is different from the 93 and up T-56 in case anyone was wondering. Jay

just called b&m again to see if someone knew and this time they told me I do need the universal one(which is what I was thinking in the first place)...about to put an order in to summit anyways, will order that soon.

part number for universal t56 shifter(fits tremec aftermarket t56) is 45053

so I'm gunna order that one...if it desn't work I'll let you guys know, thanks for all your help.
