ACCEL coil and module worth it?
im revamping the ignition system on my Vette and was wondering whether its worth it to upgrade the stock coil and module for ACCEL peices. to they actually perfrom as advertised, and are there any durability problems asscociated with them? (can they take the heat from a TPI engine) thanks
i bought the ACCEL digital + 300 from summit racing...and it came with their coil. So far i have not had any probs with it. As for the heat thing..i mounted my battery in the trunk and so the ignition was mounted where the battery was for easy adjustments and to keep it away from heat. I actually think it works quite well, but i might not be in the best position to talk about it since i have only drivin the car like 10 times since installing it. It appears to be a quality piece of equipment..and if things continue like they are, i would recomend it. It has seemed to help the car out..really it has.

Well we kind of have a trunk problem, or lack of. In fact, our spare tire is under the car like a truck
You might find room around the windshield washer reservoir, or I heard people squeezing them in there with the battery.
I like what phoenix350 said. I would consider a box kit, instead of just a coil + module.
Boy if I could get the part number for the Jacobs Ignition setup. Hmmmm

Out of all the igntion modules I've had.. (mine don't seem to last too long for some reason) the ACCEL had the SHORTEST life. I've used WELLS, NIEHOFF, NIEHOFF plus, GM and ACCEL
We have Accel in everyone of our vehicles, everything from my IROC to my 92 S10, and my brothers beretta, and my 84 cutlass. I personnally like the degree of performance I got out of them. The cars all start a bit quicker and gas mileage improved(a LITTLE)but every little bit helps. As for durability, I have the entire Accel ignition including distributor, for 5 years now and haven't had a problem.

That's where I would mount mine for my LT1 since the coil is up front, but with an L98 that would be a long reach to the back of the motor.
