Would i be messing up a good thing?
All right guys heres the situation.About a month ago a really bad storm came thru and a tree totalled my IROC that i just got the motor put in.I only had liability and the roof is crushed and not worth rebuilding.About 2 weeks ago i bought an 88 IROC convert with just the intentions of a good cruising car.Well after getting my butt handed to me by an LT1 trans am last night that my 409 IROC would have easily wasted i started thinking about putting the 409/T5 combo in the convert.Problem is its kind of rare(1 0f less than 3800 for 88).Would it be wise to just leave the car stock for futures sake of just say the hell with it and drop in that motor? The mods on that motor are in my sig. Please let me know im just not sure what would be the best route.Sorry this is so long.

might i recommend some sub-frame connectors first though...
wouldnt wanna twist that vert...
i would either drop the engine in or buy a $300-600 sportcoupe and put all your iroc stuff on it...
later,
Chris

I would Install sub frame connectors and even a roll cage to tie it all up. I was reading in Hot Rod about a mustang convt. with 400+ horsepower and it had a roll cage in it, otherwise this is there quote" a rool cage is needed or the frame of the car would be doing the hula at the starting line. Just something to think about.

drop the motor in, but keep the original tucked away in a corner of your garage, that way you can still make it a numbers matching car when your ready to sell it.
PS- sorry to hear about your IROC

I agree, drop the engine in. 1 of 3800 isn't that rare. If it has more than 5k miles it isn't that collectible...the IROC verts are among the most numerous next to the RS verts. My 92 Z28 vert is one of 12xx, and there were like 32xx or so RS verts as well. And i'd drop the engine in, cuz it's MY car...lol.

Well i guess i see what the consensus is here. Thanks for responding so fast. Also,i never meant to imply that my car was really rare its just i dont see many IROC converts around here.As a matter of fact i am the only one in this town with one.Anyway,i plan on setting up the suspension and STB and SFCs before the engine swap. Thanks again guys and more comments are appreciated.
