Iwant to tune up my 1987 Iroc 5.7 TPI. All ignition components are factory originals except the battery. The car has about 55k miles on it. Any suggestions as far as plugs, wires, cap, rotor, adjustable fuel pressure regulator? The car has gone a 14.3@93mph with 2.0 60ft. with all original ignition equiptment. I was debating on the TPIS fastpak, but have heard not to get it. Anyone got some suggestions for me?

I've used AC rapid fire plugs,and www.performancedistributors.com Livewires plug wires,highvolt coil kit(comes with cap&roter)and dynamod ignition module on my L98 Corvettes and was pleased.I wouldnt bother getting a fastpack but you can get the parts like K&N filters and SLP flowbooster from Summitt,and an AFPR for $55 from www.breathlessperformance.com You can make your own also(not wort the hassle IMO).If you havent done so yet,you should also change your O2 sesor,fuel filter,adjust TPS voltage to .54-.56 bump timing to 8deg ,trash your MAS screens,and bypass your throttle body coolant.While you have your plenum off for the AFPR,port it with a dyegrinder(there are several write ups on how to do this)and clean the $hit out of it,along with the throttle body with some T-body cleaner.All those mods together should knock atleast another 1/2 sec of ET.A 14.3 is pretty quick for a stock 87 IROC,what other mods do you have?

I gutted the air box but still have fram paper filters, removed MAF screens but no porting, 3.72 gears for the 9 bolt, hypertech stage 2 thermomaster chip, fan switch, 160 degree thermostat, OEM replacement catalytic converter from Meinikee Muffler shop, Borla cat back adjustable (when I ran the 1/4 mile I had the fully closed plate in), and a shift kit. That is all the mods I have done to the car. Everything else is factory, plugs,wires,coil,throttlebody. I think the car runs ok for what it is.
