Security

I believe this is a good place to put this topic, since its like discussing different security products. Doing a brief search I do not think anyone has gotten into this topic before, and it is important because no matter how much HP you have or how hot and orginal your car is, someone can steal it.

What has everyone done to their car for security purposes? What kinds of alarms and devices has everyone used and the such.

I have an Alpine alarm with maxed out impact sensitivity. Future plans of wiring up strobes front and back that will go off with alarm, also the changing of my alarm led to a hyper bright green led from jameco. Bolting down my sub box and amp. Also laser VIN etching my windows for insurance. My greatest dream would be to have $500 to spend on a Clifford alarm.

Here's what I have.

1- Viper 300+ with some extra crap.
2- Hidden kill switch.
3- Extra kill switch that came with Jacobs ignition.
4- moved to a better side of town.
5- and have my .44 sitting on the headboard of my bed.

The way I look at it, glass can be replaced and holes can be filled with bondo. Just kidding of course.

I have found that avoiding massive amounts of tint and stickers brandashing the name of every aftermarket sound piece and engine part seems to be a good idea. A lot of the guys i know with huge systems, the stickers for the systems and massive tint will have someone either break into their car and steal something, or have caught someone about to and proceeded to install as much anti theft equipment as possible. For some reason dark tint is just asking for someone to break in here. I guess its the fact that it looks like there is something to hide. Then again i have a tendancy to leave stuff unlocked and face plates in, but i have never had a problem (well since no one can drive a stick any more my bmw was pretty safe and no one wants a gremlin). The camaro i have been a bit more on the cautious side by always locking the doors and t-tops (when able to). Just don't give people any visual ques to get them interested (ie neon green subs sitting in a neon surrounded box right next to your 3k amps, or only do that to your show car or car that you lock up). Quite frankly the only thing i might do for security is maybe an alarm, but i doubt that will happen on the RS unless i do some seriouse work.
