Notchback
Notchback
I got a question for all of you who are fans of the notchback style...
Since the only aftermarket notchback that anyone can seem to find is the one offered by GTA Accessories, and while it's a sharp enough back, it just isn't made to be true to the origional, I was wondering what the market would be like for a more origional looking notchback. Here's the deal.
My brother in law works at a small fiberglass molding shop. One of the nifty "Fringe benefits" he gets is the ability to make fiberglass stuff for his and his buddie's cars. Free. Sure, he needs something to build a mold from, but he's actually quite good. He's made a canoe for my stepfather and a half a dozen hoods for his '66 mustang (nobody's perfect, and if Ford ever built a quality mustang, those old ones were worthwile).
Now before I go hogwild with this, there are a few problems. First, he needs something more substantial than pics to build a mold from. If need be, I could work out a wooden version, (I'm actually pretty handy with wood, but it would take just GOBS of time and effort) and that would suffice, however, it would be greatly preferable if we could get our hands on an origional for a few days. Any suggestions?
Assuming that's not an issue, I need to know what kind of market response we would anticipate. In layman's terms, how much could we reasonably sell one for, and how many could we expect to sell?
Price would probably become a concern, especially after the first few, as he doesn't want to overabuse his boss's laid back attitude, and, therefore, would want to pay for materials used at least, if he were making more than 2 or 3.
