Different spin on using the LT4 hot cam, come inside

ok, i have a stock LTR setup and i know that the hot cam is a bit much.

Has anyone advanced the cam while installing it to bring down more power down low where the TPI needs it?

just curious....i think that maybe i should do tests of straight up and advanced because retarding it would obviously put the powerband up too high.

any opinions?

Yah, I put in a 4º cam key when I installed my LT4 HOT cam. However when I degreed it, the cam came out to 3º retarded, meaning its only 1º advanced. I dunno whats up with that...

I installed mine straight up, with bone stock intake and heads. Yes, the cam is a bit too much, but with the proper mods, you can get it to run just right. I however didn't degree the cam, I just lined up the marks on the timing chain set.

Well i just planned on changing the position of the crank gear like it says on the cloyes box.

Wouldn't that work for advancing/retarding the cam or no?
