The higher the number the longer the tread wear.

What Steve said. But keep in mind that tire life expectancy is at best an estimate (your mileage may vary, etc.), that it is done by each manufacturer rather than by any outside agency and that it is not done in accordance with any standardized procedure. It is therefore not a directly comparable number between different tire manufacturers, only an approximate indication at best.

Just because the wear number is high, does not make a tire a brick. It really depends on what you want and can afford. If u do a lot of highway driving a HP tire with a high treadwear rating might make u happy i.e. Toyo FZ4. You may want a tire that is inexpensive but can corner well, i.e. Kumo Ecsta. Again, it all depends on what you want and what you can afford, do your homework and compare tires that fit your needs and budget.

Suspension Techniques Sway Bars, Globel West Wonderbar, Poly everything bushings, Metco LCA's, Lakewood Panhad Rod. 16" ROH, with Toyo 245's. For autocross, 16" IROC's w/bfg R1's... Nothing easy can be fun...
