The quality of the castings is second to none. I don't know about their valves and springs I think they are Manley which are very good. However the S/R Torquers are very very old technology and not worth the money. If you wan't World Product heads get Sprortsman II's but even those are now way behind the times as far as combustion chamber design.
theyre pretty good heads for the money, i have them. but like warbird said, they could be behind the times. Not by far though. I dont plan on playing catch-up forever. I dont feel like buying the latest and greatest heads every time they hit the shelves. The flow numbers for the sportsmans are pretty comparable to the vortechs and they have good springs and stuff already, maybe even a little more potential. (watch the flaming begin
) 0.55 or 0.6 max lift with the springs on the sportsman's.
World = Excellent, good quality heads
