Accell runners and base

Let me say that these have to be one of the WORST fitting products i've ever seen. It seems that everytime I think i'm getting somewhere boom some other bull**** pops up. Do yourself a favor and have your mechanic install this pieces of **** for you.

Maybe they've changed in the 10 years since I bought mine, or maybe they are different... mine are Accel/Lingenfelter. The fit is great. The only drawback is the valve covers must be removed in order to get at the lower bolts.

Well I had to stud the manifold in the rear passenger side because the bolts that you have to torque down also hold the coil bracket (I have a 91 so my coil is separate). They could have machined the area flat but anyways it's pretty hard to explain without showing you. I had to drill the runners because the bolts weren't lining up right into the plenum. I had to grind some bolts heads to clear to runners. And I had to go on a mission to find some bolts to use on the bottom four runner bolts.

I had to modify my bracket for the EGR solinoid, which needed to be flat. I also needed new bolts for the fuel rails so I could tighten them when the runners in place. I had to modify my AC compressor support bracket on the front driver side of the intake manifold. I had to modify a few bolts heads for the alternator bracket support. etc, etc, etc. That stuff takes some time....

Yeah, I thought the base seated nicely on the block and heads, but my stock runners were a PITA to install, I accidently cross threaded one of the bolts, and the PCV port on the base didn't fit right with my hose fitting, so I had to get a new one of those, but other than that, I was pretty happy with it, it made a nice improvement in my car's performance.

I guess I must have been lucky, because mine fit easily.

I too had fitment problems. My plenum wouldn't seat. I ended up planing down each side of the plenum slightly to get it to fit. Before I did that, everytime I tried to seat the plenum - the damn gaskets squirmed out the bottom. And yes - I did have everthing else as loose as possible so that it would got together easier. It didn't work.

But, as we all know by now - 90% of the aftermarket parts we buy never fit as advertised. But, I guess that's what keeps it interesting.
