lonsal's nylon trunk motor guide inserts

if you have problems with you electric trunk motor not aligning all the time or if it rattles around and is in a general state of disrepair---

email this guy lonsal@home.com and he'll send you some replacement guides/sliders for the trunk motor. I just installed them and they fit perfectly and stopped a rattling problem I had.

good stuff.

James, Thanks for the compliments. I saw a niche and filled it. One of many I
intend to fill. I'm glad they worked well for you. Out of curiosity, what
combination of the guides did you use? I,O,I,O? Or some other combination? For those that haven't seen these yet, I make them so they can be adjusted to fit the manufacturing tolerances of the mating channel. GM does this by adding a raised nub that quickly wears down, leaving them to rattle and move around too much. Also their design is injection molded with the minimal amount of material possible. Mine are solid nylon, Machined to be a drop-in replacement and last a lot longer.

Thanks,

Lon Salgren

I overhauled my power seat a while back. It uses slide similar to those on the hatch pull-down. They are (were, at least) still available from GM, so I bought a set. I tried them on the pull-down, but they're not the same size (they look alike, though). You might consider making those slides, too.

Someone already made that suggestion. I am waiting for a sample guide and the seat frame assembly where it mounts. But it seems do-able. I only wonder what the market for those would be? The hatch pull-down units were a common option from 86-91. The power seats less common. But yes it is a potential future product for Top-Down Solutions. Thanks, Lon.
