Clay Magic
Long time no post... My poor 87 TA has kinda taken a back seat on my project list until recently. After a good wash and wax, I noticed all these little white specks all over her paint. I mean ALL over her. I couldnt even scratch them off with my fingernail. It was on the glass, everywhere. I tried scrubbing, polishing compound, bug and tar remover, paint cleaner, nothing touched the stuff. I took it to two different professional detail shops and both of them actually told me it would have been cheaper to repaint the car then to have them get the specks off... The one guy told me to try a clay bar and see what happens. So tonight I got some clay magic from work and went to town on the hood, since that was the worst. Took me a couple hours of working with it, but I got the hang of using the bar, and the specks are almost gone. I cant really see any of them. Before it looked like the car was really dusty...but the dust wouldnt move. After I used the clay bar, I followed it up with some Meguiars #1 Paint cleaner. The paint has never looked so good. Literally like glass. Im all excited but tomorrow I still have to do the rest of the car. I have t-tops so atleast i dont really have a roof. Anyway, just thought Ide share that. Maybe if any of you have some spots that you cant get rid of you can check it out. Its like $9 for the stuff. Later.

Yeah Ive heard of people using a clay bar back in the day. I was surprised how well it worked especially on my original paint. Ive been recommending it to everyone that comes into the store. Gets my vote.
