holley stelath ram??
hello,I am new here and just built a new motor for my step sons car and have found out that this tuned port injection sucks and is hold the power of this motor back!
It has mild upgrades-10.0 compression, port and polish heads, two moves up on the camshaft (comp cam) 20 thousands shaved heads, 499 gram pistons, balanced.
dyno'd at 225 rwhp, which seems awfully low and the dyno guy told me that the tpi is the culprit and suggested an aftermarket kit like accel or the holly with headers to open it up and let it breath. Further down this forum there is a similar question and another genttleman posted a link to a comparrison between intakes, and unless I am seeing wrong, the tpi actually beats everybodys ***????
At least up untill 4500 which is where 99% of driving is done.
Any thoughts or recomendations?
Thanks

Here's a great link to the various replacement intakes for the TPI.
http://www.stealthram.com/intakecompare.html
The TPI is a great intake but has it's own place, in 4x4's. Lots of low end TQ you can't get with any other EFI intake.

It is really based on your driving habits and engine combo. If you have stock heads and a low cam, stick with aftermarket TPI. If you will also never take it to 6,000 RPM but once amonth, stick with TPI.
The HSR is better because you can obtain much beter launches with much less wheel spin. Harder launch=faster time. If you put in a steeper set of gears you will not know the difference from torque and such.

TPI is great in a street car. If you've got a built motor and your running the stock exhaust it's going to be holding you back. The stock tpi could be swaped out for one off the aftermarket set-ups (stealth ram, mini ram, modded LT-1). Or you could do like I did and change it a little at a time. I started with a ported plenum. then I got some SLP runners and ported my base. Finally got an aftermarket base and a Monty Hall deal on a BBK throttle body. Each mod made it a little faster and gave me something to do. What cam are you running?
P.S. Welcome new guy !!
