most of the hoods from these manufacturers don't line up and have to be worked to match the stock appearance. I think it's dumb spending that much money then having to match that with a bodyshop to straighten it out.

I'm willing to say that 98% percent of aftermarket hoods require adjustment to get them to fit right.

And Snketr: how does your car handle all that toque from the engine? What frame modifications have you made? I want to build a kick *** 396 but don't know how much the car can handle. And I really don't want to weld in a roll cage. Thanks man.

My 86' has taken major abuse with it's 454 employed engine the first couple of years, with the only modifications being SFC's, STB, and an adjustable TA. I since upgraded the entire suspension, but I found the frame to still be in excellent condition when doing so...

abuse

the car has fully welded sfc's and a full cage the car seems to handle it well. i also have the tublar k member and that really helped alot. it also has a 9 inch cause the 10 bolt would not hold, but back to the hood it doesnt come close to lining up, the bottom of the cowl hits the fire wall and to make it sit right it sits 2 inchs forward of where the stock hood was. im just confused cause my buddy has one and it fit great, but y is mine hitting the firewall?

First, I would make it a point of measuring your hood, in comparison to you're friend's hood. make sure it's of adequate length. If it is, I would then measure the distance of your friend's firewall to nose, fender to fender, as well as his hood hinge location. Bottom line is that you either have a bad mold, or your body is mis-aligned... despite the stock hood fitting right in place. Hope this helps....

Sometimes you just get a bad hood. That's why you're supposed to test fit it before paint.

That's what I meant when I stated that he either has a bad mold (fiberglass hood), or his body is not properly aligned...

I know. I was just trying to reinforce your point.

just a little background on g&t - they've been very helpful to me... They were able to perform some repairs on a fiberglass hood that had been damaged... wasn't even their own hood! Anyways - their business is only 20 minutes from where i live here in CT... If you have any issues, make sure to talk to them, i'm pretty confidant that george or the guys working for him will take good care of you...

Anyways - your alignment problems may stem from the accident, but thats still not a definate solution...

Mine fit well. I had to elongate the adjustment holes in the hinges ans their instructions said might be needed.

I bet it has something to do with the fact the car has been wrecked.
