Timing chain & headers install

I was curious if anyone has installed edelbrock headers and timing chain on a 92 trans am and if they could tell me the easiest way of doing it without pulling the motor? I appreciate any assistance.

You don't have to get anywhere close to pulling the motor.

The headers:

Just remove anything obstructing your path to removing/inserting them. Remember, you can probably get them in from the bottom if you are having difficulty from the top. They will go in though. Make sure you label any connections that you disconnect with masking tape and a sharpie. I like to mark one side with the letter A, then the other side with the letter A, then use the letter B for the next connection and so on and so forth for every connection you need to break. Take pictures too just to be sure. Also remember that if your headers dont have a hole for the oxygen sensor in the bung to drill it out PRIOR to putting the headers in. I made this mistake and had to drill it out from under the car...not fun.

Timing chain:

Again, remove anything of obstruction (in this case it is just the water pump, crank pulley and balancer...make sure you check proper procedure to removing these), and remove the timing cover. You are going to need a gear puller to get that bottom gear off of the crank though, unless it is an OEM chain, just keep the bottom gear on, theres no need to replace it so long as it doesnt show any physical wear.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking just wanted to make sure before I started pulling it apart.
