G-Tech Pro?
G-Tech Pro?
Well, since the tracks up here are closed, and i didn't get to them.. i'm kinda wondering what i run in the 1/4th and it looks like my alternative way to get a time is with a G-tech. Is the product accurate as they say it is on the site? I don't know if this has been posted b4, but any info would be helpful.
thx
-Abe

I've had one for a few years now and have had it at the track with me a couple of times. It seems to be pretty accurate when it comes to ET's (.05) being slower every time on the G-tech when compared to the slip, but trap speed is always way off about 4-8mph high on the G-tech.

I have this unit and my runs in the 1/4 mile were within 1% of the timeslips.
My mph that I was reading off of the unit was always about 3-4mph higher than what the dragstip showed on the timeslip.
The manufacturer claims that this is due to how the unit determines the speed vs the how the mph is calculated at the drag strip.
The drag strip determines the mph based on time that it takes to cover the distance between the second last and last timing lights and therefore the mph that you typically see on the timeslip is based on the average mph. The unit is displaying the instantaneous mph at the end of the 1/4 mile and because of this the unit will usually display a much faster mph.

the reason G-tech is about 4-8 mph faster is because it measures the speed AT! 1/4 mile. the track is average. so ive heard. im planning on getting one soon..
