Do you have this fuel filter?(w/pic)
I hope this doesn't belong in the general tech board...
I bought an edelbrock fuel filter from summit. However, I don't know which side is the inlet or outlet. One side is red and the other blue, and I hope somebody can enlighten me.
My flexible fuel line came apart before the filter, so I would like to eliminate a backward filter as a possible cause.

Well you can email the technical department at Edelbrock. Hopefully they will get back to you within a couple days with an appropriate answer (I once emailed them to get torque specs for my hi-flow intake and they replied back "tighten them until they are firmly set"....ya whatever).
Any sort of arrow showing direction on that fuel filter??

No arrow or marking of any kind, hence the question.
I don't think there were any instructions, but if there were, they are long gone now.

I bought that too recently, but no directions or anything. I think I was going to use the red side as the inlet and blue outlet. I dont think it really matters though as long as you dont turn it around after you use it. if you do that then you would let all the crap you filtered into the fuel supply and it would get to the injectors.
I dont think the direction matters because it is a sintered bronze or stainless mesh in there. Not like a paper filter where the pressure would damage the filter element.

My Summit one didn't have any markings either. It is just a 2-way filter. What every way you put it on is the way it should stay. Otherwise, like said above, that crap will go into the engine if you turn it around after using it.

Thank you guys, I wasn't looking forward to taking apart the fuel line if I had to flip it around.

I would assume they would want the "Edelbrock" to be facing the right direction so you can read it right when installed so I would figure the blue would be the inlet and the red the outlet, or else "Edelbrock" would be upside down...

Think about that for a minute. If you have the Edelbrock "upside down" just rotate it 180 degress and it is right side up again..... Plus I am sure the machine that silk screens the word on there has no idea which way it is facing.

I thought about that "Edelbrock" thing too. But believe it or not, that's prolly right.
With it installed as it is in the pic, from the rear of the car, you'd read "Edelbrock" correctly. Whereas, if you installed it the other way around, you could only read it correctly from the front of the car. But you can't even see the filter from that view, so it's prolly meant to be seen from the rear.
Installing it like that pic also works with the red end, red meaning "STOP, DO NOT ENTER." So the red is prolly the exit.
But really, it's prolly just a two-way filter, like has already been said. But then that makes me wonder... what's the worry about re-installing it the other way around? I mean, why would you re-install the same fuel filter after having removed it anyway?

The element is replaceable, but I could imagine that there could be circumstances that the filter may need to be removed and replaced without changing the element

Haha...
Easy to keep your mouth off of the contact area and still figure out which way is provides the least resistance. I guess you've never siphoned gas...
