If the frame rails didn't flex, you wouldn't need a wonderbar in the first place, Yo.

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd add that Global West offered two different Wonderbars, one for '82-'84, and the other for '85-'92. They said that there is a difference of about a quarter-inch in length between the two. Obviously, the TDS bar has a superior mounting system, but the TDS didn't yet exist back when I bought my GW bar. I did have to do a little grinding on the mounting holes on mine, and I have no idea if it was due to bad design/manufacturing, or if I somehow got the wrong option for my '83. It was 18 years ago...

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

I have the UMI option, fit nicely and works great. Everything I've purchased from UMI has been exceptional.

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

I have gotten 2 - so far from @lonsal at TDS...amazing quality. and very well built...the one i bought probably over 10?? years ago looks new / has no rust etc........ I just removed it to install some fan stuff and reinstalled...goes in no problems and lines up like a OE part just like it did 10 years ago.

Detroit Speed is the new boss in town. It's the most expensive though by a long shot.

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

Does anyone know where a TDS bar can be purchased without the ridiculous shipping costs?
I can't bring myself to purchase the bar for $65 and pay $46 for standard ground shipping.

Message or call Lon. I'm sure the shipping isn't nearly that much.

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

Hawks appears to be selling them on ebay... it even has the TDS sticker on them. Im guessing they partnered as a distributor or something...

$90 and free shipping

I got mine through classic industries because the shipping was cheaper so I think you’re right about them partnering with other suppliers

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

I've calculated the shipping cost to ship the steering brace to John via UPS GROUND. Prior to that I suggested he check at both Classic Industries and Hawks Thirdgen since they often will have a Holiday sale or offer free shipping. The overall cost may be less. Both Classic and Hawks sells a lot more product than I do and get much better rates for shipping than I do.

Re: Best steering brace/wonderbar?

ugh I feel yah on that shipping cost, had to pay $43 for some hood vents for my truck project. Called the place even to tell em that didn't need them shipped fast, had places give me a better rate that way before. But just how things are these days and not gonna get cheaper!
