Re: third gen projector headlights

They look exactly like the ones on ebay which have gotten pretty bad reviews from people around here.

I found a set of what looks like real projectors, but they're NOT cheap. They're the anti-cheap.

Re: third gen projector headlights

Dont waste your money on those cheap "projectors". They arent "projectors"... they have a projector lens, but thats about it. 90% of them are cheaply made and the lens moves around.

Go with a TRUE projector or stick with halogen bulbs and H4 conversions...

True projector lenses are around the $1000 mark. These are the ones that Sinister Z has on his car.

The cheap ones are just a waste of money

Re: third gen projector headlights

The only downside is they're not projectors, but because they're E-spec, the pattern is a lot less annoying than throwing an HID into a $20 ebay housing, so if you run those while saving up for the projector, you won't get too many people flashing their brights at you.

Be sure to aim them well, blinding people at night is dangerous!

Re: third gen projector headlights

It's been months since somebody flashed me, as soon as I properly aimed them, it stopped. I run that setup with 6000K HIDs in all 4 headlights.

Re: third gen projector headlights

It's all in the aiming. It really is. But the E-specs have a nice cutoff, as I'm sure you've noticed, rather than plain DOT housings, which might not have a straight cutoff at all.

And for the record, whenever I do up my headlights, it was your recommendation for those in an old thread that made me decide to get those before dropping $850 on projector housings. Those will come after the car is done. Which might be in ten to twenty years. >.>

Re: third gen projector headlights

I just haven't seen any projector headlights that I think look proper on a 3rd gen. I think the round just doesn't go with the sharp angles of the 3rd gen. If I ever find a set of projectors that did look "right", I would buy them in a second.

Re: third gen projector headlights

yes but the kit a few post up for 850 would look fine because its a round projector in square housing giving you the square sharp cuts with eye like features, should look fine in my opinion

I've seen them, I don't think they fit the car at all.

Re: third gen projector headlights

yea some do look terrible but like in sinisters car, i think those look great cuz the hoods kinda hides our headlights and when they look like eyes it makes em look evil, just my opinion though some look like junk others look nice

Re: third gen projector headlights

I run E-codes in my Jeep. I LOVE them vs. regular halogen bulbs. I run a set of higher wattage bulbs, and have an upgraded harness. My E-codes were sinfully cheap. I think I paid around $30 shipped, and they came with a nice set of stock wattage bulbs. But you could order higher watt. bulbs with them. A bunch of Jeep guys got turned onto the this cheaper set, but they work great.

Thats another thing you guys should consider...an upgraded harness that runs your headlights off relays and heavier gauge wire straight from the battery. You'll see a large improvment even with stock bulbs that way.

Im completely 100% against putting HID in a regular halogen housing. I get hounded about that all the time, but Ive tried it. And I get blinded by people that do that all the time. Its just a bad idea. You dont even get that much usable light out of it to make it worth it. If you get a good E-code, they are a good deal better, but still not great. I doubt you'd get flashed much with E-codes and HIDs as long as you aim them right, and the pattern helps make use of the light much better. Unfortunetly, they still wont give you the performance from an HID bulb like a proper projector will.

I agree with you guys that are saying the projector bulbs look kinda out of place on our cars. I have a TA...so Im banking on not being able to see my actual projectors much. Doesnt bother me...I just need to get my motivation up again to fit my FX35 bi-xenon projectors into my headlights.

J.

Re: third gen projector headlights

you could disassemble the cheapy aftermarket lenses and modify/install a good condition set of oem projector lenses& holders then you'd be cheap and sharp. i don't mean u make it sound easy cuase its probably not but it has been done on other cars with aftermarket lenses. can't find how to's though.

Re: third gen projector headlights

Sinister Z's do look good actually they look great, too much $$

How about some brand new stock replacements with a fresh coat of semi gloss black around the trim pieces and dividers? That's a nice clean look.......
