350 heads?
I am building a 350 and am willing to spend around $1000 for good after market heads. I have seen the name vortec thrown around a lot on this site. Are they really that good? Are there any other good alternatives? I am trying to make this a daily driver that can run low 13s high 12s. A nice set of heads and a target compression ratio would be much appreciated information!

Re: 350 heads?
With Vortec heads you'll have to get an aftermarket intake, but for 1000 dollars you should be able to fund both. Vortecs will support over 400hp in stock form. The only issue you'll have to tackle is they can only take about .470 lift stock (unless you buy already built ones from Jegs or somewhere). What kind of car are you putting these on? Is it a TPI, carb, TBI? Also what gears and transmission are you running?

Re: 350 heads?
I have an 87 iroc with a 305 tpi rite now. I want to swap in a 350 but i am not an engine buff what so ever, so i need a lot of advise, starting with my head selection. I plan on the 350 being tpi. Im running a manual transmission with a 3.45 Borg Warner rear end. What would you suggest for intake, the stealth ram? and also ikno wat .470 stock lift refers to, but could you put it into perspective of how small of a lift that is, wat effects it might have (limiting choices, performance, ect.), and how can i solve the issue?
