Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
Just wanted to stop in and give Meguiars "mirror glaze" product line a BIG thumbs up! Their "show car glaze #7" on a cheap orbital buffer with a terry pad did the damn thing for my new hood. I wet sanded the clearcoat with some 2000 grit paper, then hit it with the buffer. Once I buff it again, I'm going to use their "high tech yellow wax" and I'll post some pics...

Re: Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
I just wanted to chime in and give Meguiar's a pat on the back as well. I apply their Deep Crystal System (paint cleaner, polish, wax) to my car every spring and it keeps the paint smooth, dark, and glossy.
I just bought a tub of the Hi-Tech Yellow Wax and am looking forward to applying it to see how it will look.
Definitely post those pictures.

Couple more. I threw in the low light pic just for grins. Maybe I'm just weird but I like the dark shots.

Re: Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
First of all, your car looks great. The integration of the fog lights in the front grill looks like they were installed there from the factory.
Second, you should have warned us to wear sunglasses before opening the pictures! The glaze does a fantastic job of bringing out the shine of the paint. Imagine what the wax will do.
Zymol makes a good cleaner wax that brings out the deepness of the paint in darker cars as well. The only problem is that it leaves a lot of white residue in the creases of the body that you can only get out with a toothbrush and lots of patience.
Nice work.

Re: Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
I was pleased with the results, very pleased. The car has been a spare time project for over a year now. The fog lights, ah.... I wasnt that happy. I was bored one day and had the set layin around so I killed a few hours and put them in. I'll be replacing them with rectangle ones, I think they will blend better in an angular shape.
Yeah I saw the Zymol wax. I was quite surprised by the price. lol I had never heard of it though so I didnt partake.
Thanks again, I bet it will improve even more with the wax.
Oh, and its almost $11 a bottle. Both the glaze and the wax.

WOW... that looks great! I might just have to try that combo even though white dosen't seem to show a mirror finish as well as darker colors imho.

Re: Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
It would seem as though you are correct. I have noticed that dark colors seem to "mirror" better. But, clean is clean. After I buffed mine the pad was so nasty. So that showed me all the contaminants that were on there all along before I buffed it.

Did you use 1 pad for wax, then one for buffing? People have so many different techniques and I'm just curious as to yours. I have a varible speed sander/polisher, but never tried it as a polisher. Thanks.

Yeah. AutoZone carries the basic lines of Meguiar's and Zymol products, but if you want to get fancy and are in the mood to spend a little more cash, you'll have to order from their websites.
Meguiar's Retail Website
Zymol Retail Website
As a side note, if anyone gets around to ordering Zymol's Solaris wax, let me know how it is. I am interested to see how much nicer my bird will look with wax that costs more than some people make in a year.

Re: Meguiars Mirror Glaze...
I tried using a another pad on the buffer for glaze removal, but I actually had better results by hand. I used a couple of the jumbo "micro-fiber" cloths to do the whole car. That and is was easier to just apply and buff, then remove buff by hand. However, there are some people that use the buffer for that too. Kinda depends on what you want to do, and your product choice.
Max,
Max,
I'm going to try this Max and maybe, just maybe, I can get mine to shine like yours
