Re: heads, intake, headers.
Look for somthing with at least 2.02/ intake and 1.90 exhaust for the heads. Edlebrock makes a good intake for tbi its called the perfomer I think i paid like 170.0 for it. I just pulled my 305 in my 91 rs and dumped in a 350 punch .30 over with intake hooker headers and rhs heads .500 lift comp cam full roller tb spacer still looking for a chip. O yea put a five speed in it 2 sucker won't hook till 4 gear. Anyway start there..Good luck P.S Really want to change out tthat stock cam to.

Welcome!!
Here your will find an incredible amount of expertise, as well as an amusing
assortment of gas-bags, so CAVEAT EMPTOR.
But remember, it's all FREE!
The 305/350 debate is endless, with successful practitioners on both sides.
But cost effectiveness weighs much heavier toward the 350.
My assumption is that by the very nature of the question, your experience
level is low. If not please don't be offended.
To that end, start with smaller scale mods than heads/cams, such as
the edelbrock manifold, and exhaust upgrades. These will get you into
the next step of tuning. By then, you'll have some experience on the
cost-per-go-faster factor.
Always good to have another 3g enthusiast aboard.

Re: heads, intake, headers.
From what I've seen Ported stock head Aftermarket Cam .Headers, High flowing Exhaust, better Intake, & tuning. You could get close to your goal.
I would stay away from 2.02" valves in the head on a 305. The intake valves will be shrouded. hurting the air flow. do a search on 305 tbi build ups.

Re: heads, intake, headers.
I came across this build up in Popular Hot Rodding a little while ago. Same ideas as always, but I've never heard of the heads they used mentioned on this site before. I think they come for about $450 as bare castings. But the article didn't mention any of problems with bolting them up or gasket thickness I've heard of with Vortec heads. Thoughts?
