hi

I have got a new engine that I will go in my car now.
but I have no recomandation what spark plug I should use.
this is the engine description:

3.48 stroke crank
hi flow heads 2,02/1.6 valves
roller rockers 1,6 ratio
cam lift .574 INT .593 EXH togeter with the 1,6 rockers
flat top pistons
10.5:1 comp

I guess this enginge with this comp will be a little hotter than a stock 350 engine.
so my thought about the spark plug is, I need a little colder than the stock NGK FR5 so I did some search on the NGK page and ended with this choice:
BCPR6ES
PFR6B-9
BKR7E
BCPR7ET
all NGK plugs

The higer number = colder plug

Well then there is this problem together with this engine. I am going to use a HOLLEY stelth ram. That will give me some tuning, when stat up this enging fist time. When tuning my enginge I always start with a rich mixture and lean this too a good mixture.
So will I have problems with fouling my plugs, using a cold spark plug when tuning?

there is allot off experts on this forum, so I ask you! Is my choice off plugs the correct thought?

 

the only thing i can tell you is way to pick the best manuf of plugs...NGK all the way!

 

Hopefully you actually know what heads you have, beyond just "high flow" heads.

 

yea I know. but if i say what type I have there will be a big discussion about how bad they are.

Jegs recomand to use the FR5 plug on this head. but that is with normal some around 9 to 1 comp.

 

i just use the ACCEL header plugs, they work damn well and i aint had a bit of a problem out of them.

 

i just looked at the accel's 0576 might be the right ones...

jegs offers these plugs in most of their ignition kits, does anyone know about the quality of these plugs?

 

the best spark plug is the one thats gapped correctly

 

there great plugs, i have them in my 1987 305 TPI and it runs great. My dad also runs the same plugs in his carbed 383 with plenty of power and that have performed performance and reliabilty wise better then any other plugs we have tried. Some cars just dont like expensive platinum or iridium plugs.

 

I personally like bosch platinums.

I have had a bad experience with champions.

 

I'd use AC R43TS

 

so just the normal temp range!!!

I did use the AC plugs before, and I was not verry happy with them. Had some problems when tuning.
when adding to much fuel, they did not burn clean, some people told me then to change into NGK or Champion...

but that was another engine with less comp.

 

This morning, I saw the Horsepower TV guys showed on a Dyno that the Diamond Fire E3 plugs gave one of thier engiens an 8 hp increase over regular plugs.... I spent so much on headers and exhaust and got about double that...

The last time I looked at an E3 HP graph, they did provide more HP but it was in the upper rpm range. They actually (according to the graph) lost some power down low.

I'm not saying they are bad. Just make sure you check out the graphs and know your power range before you buy. Just my 2 cents.
