Alot of people seem to have a lot of problems with aftermarket coils. Although I've never tried any of them. I stick with Delco.

I put an Accel on mine several years ago. Used the factory bracket and rotated it up out of the way.

Re: MSD OR ACCEL ??

If you are running now with no PROBLEMS why ask for one with aftermarket systems that have a history of causing them.

ok at first I didn't understand Sheee-oTT ... ... but then I put in a few commas and whala... so you are running all Accel simply because you got a good deal on it... right?

Re: MSD OR ACCEL ??

Funny... I've got an Accel coil on my car, and a MSD coil in a box for a future project, it's my honest opinion that neither one actually does anything the stock coil doesn't already do. Don't waste your money.

I was thinking about a coil when my truck went into the shop because it had a miss then just quit running. After they got it running right I had them check coil voltage and amperage. Both were higher than any aftermarket coil out there.

Beware that though voltage means alot everybody forgets that the amperage is important when comparing also. I have seen many aftermarket coils have half the amperage and only 5-8,000 more volts.
It is cheaper to make them this way and no actual performance gain.
Don't get me wrong the voltage is more important but half is a huge drop for amperage.
That said I have never actually had an acell or msd coil checked but lean towards MSD as I have seen some data on the acell's.

Re: MSD OR ACCEL ??

Keep in mind that when I first started working on my Camaro six years ago I had never heard of TGO
and thus deprived of their knowledgeable members. So I winged it a little and bought what I thought was appropriate for the car at the time. Including ignition components. I went with Accel parts including the ignition module, coil, cap and rotor, and went with super stock wires and autolite platinum plugs. I have no complaints and they have served me well for the last six years. MSD has a better reputation then Accel so at that time I "would" have gone all MSD.
