Evaluating HD action cameras; GoPro Hero or RePlay XD
Currently I attach my Nikon digital camera on a suction cup mount to take video in the car. When the camera is attached to the fender outside the car, the wind noise is terrible drowning out the exhaust. I've found that most video cameras fail when it comes to reducing wind noise. So I've been looking at several other alternatives like the GoPro Hero HD, the RePlay XD, and the Drift HD170. There are probably others that I don't know about.
It seems like there two camps, the GoPro people and Replay people. Both say their camera is the best. I'm sure that will be the same here. All I'm looking for is a low cost, small, HD camera with good wind resistant audio. There's no use buying a camera to attach to the outside of your car if all you get is wind noise.
So what is the opinion here, what do you use? What features do you use all the time and are there some that you never use?

I like my GoPro hero hd. I have never used the replay though. I have seen comparisons and the replay seems to the winner as far as image quality goes.
But at the end of the day the GoPro has the remote back pack, the extended live battery, the optional lcd back screen, and wifi smart phone remote use.

The GoPro has a very big following.I havent used one myself but they take good picture and seem to have good noise reduction. But they are rather big imo.
Dont know if you heard of Contour, but they do have much more sleek and rugged HD camera and its cheaper than a Gopro. It doesnt have a screen but I can tell you that its a much wider lens than a gopro and sound quality is on par.The best part I like about it and I own a contour roam..is that no matter how you mount the camera..you can simply turn the lens which is degreed for a perfect recording angle. And it uses the same suction mount as the gopro and has a wide range of other mounts aswell.Check it out..gopro and contour I see alot in major stores competing in that market.

Here is the perfect video for you.

Contour is cool but falls behind in every area compared to the Replay XD and GoPro. If your looking to save a few bucks it may be a good option.
There are videos of the Go-Pro falling from 3000ft and still operable. Countless videos of falling off cars, boats ect at fast speeds. 90% of the time it works after impact.

We used my buddy's gopro on his snowmobile last winter, worked great. You can hear the wind noise but it doesn't drown out the engine or even track noise. It stayed on well, we took it up to about 70. I'll see if he still has the video.
