Heddman Shorty's

I was just thumbing through Jegs and saw this set of headers© PN 500-68481 $309©99 I'm assuming they are better than Edelbrocks and seem to come with all the same stuff© has anyone used these? Anyone have any problems with these headers? I'd rather get a set of hedman's rather than some from a intake/carb company© What gauge are they? Thanks in advance©

We have the Headman shorties on our 82 Z28 and have no problems with them at all. I don't remember the part number of the one we got though. They were not $300. The ones we got don't have the A.I.R. tubes in them (we removed all emmissions from the car) or a place for the O2 senser (it is a carborated motor). The good things about these headers is that they will work with both angle plug and straight plug heads and you can also put both of them in from the top of the motor (if you move the A/C compressor out of the way). We ordered the headers by themselves and the universal Y-pipe that they sell (you would think that the Y-pipe would fit there headers sence they make both of them) but the Y-pipe ended up not fitting and the pipes coming off of the headers were only 2 1/4" and we wanted 2 1/2" so we had one made, which turned out better anyway.

82 Z28 with 350.motor has .030 forged flat top pistions other wise stock bottom end, Summit 214/224 cam with 1.6 Harland Sharp roller rockers, stock 882 heads for now (will be getting a set of the 23 degree Trick Flows this summer), Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 Vacuum secondary, Th350 with 2200 converter, stock 3.23 geared rearend for now (getting 9" later on), Headman shorty headers, custom 2.5" into 3.5" Y pipe into M.A.C. offroad pipe and M.A.C. cat back system. So far car has only been to the track twice and is having sever traction problems but is running 60'-2.34 1/8 mile-9.2 @ 79 MPH.
