S/R Torquer question...

1: Are they the ' 87 and later style intake face?

2: Are they centerbolt valve cover friendly?

Hey Captain,
The S/R Torquers are available in either style. As my sig notes, I have them installed. Have had for 3 years. If I were buying heads now, I'd get a set of Vortec heads with the Scogin ****ey manifold. Even at the cost of the manifold, the heads are so inexpensive, you'll save more anyway. The vortecs were not available when I was shopping and the manifold has only come out in the past year. I do not know how much lift the Vortecs can tolerate. Scogin ****ey could tell you.

Thanks for the input.

I looked into Vortec heads, but after the heads and a new intake it would cost more to do that than just buy the S/R's. Plus, I would have to make ANOTHER TV cable bracket.

Okay. Well then, in that case, FYI, I found the best price at the time for the Torquers was at Bill Mitchell Racing Products. I thought I had the number but I cant find it. The number for World is 810-939-9628. If you tell them what cam you are using, they will make sure you get the right springs. I mildly ported mine by using the procedures shown in Dave Vizard's book "How to build and modify Chevrolet small-block V-8 cylinder heads". Barnes and Nobles can get it. My local one had it in stock.

Oh, found Mitchell's number, 516-737-0372, in Ronkonkoma, NY,
just in case area code has been changed. Part no 4277A.
Have fun.
