Fan switch

Hey guys, just replaced my Jet 60600 fan switch (which was very inaccurate and inconsistent) with a switch from American Volt on Ebay.

Very much liking it. Accurate (checked with my temp gun), and consistent.

They offer numerous NPT sizes, and various temp settings. I got the 3/8 NPT with fan on at 180, and off at 165.

Re: Fan switch

Off at 165? It will be running all the time. And if your engine can run at 165, that's too cold...

With the 180 thermostat and fans kicking on at 180, the temp stays pretty consistent at 170 to 180.
My engine runs great at that temp. Non computer Qjet.

I used to run no fan switch, so the fans were on all the time with ignition. Car ran great then too. It stayed at about 160 to 170 then.

Re: Fan switch

Is 3/8 the factory size for the head or is that smaller?

That's the stock size. It goes in the cylinder head near the exhaust manifold/header on the passenger side.

Re: Fan switch

Let us know how long it lasts. So far that same jet switch has lasted me like 5 years, way longer than any other stock or aftermarket one has.
Good luck

Re: Fan switch

Been running the Hypertech switch in one of my cars since 2004, but it is out of production.
Been through three Ron Francis switches in the other car. Last two have lasted around a year before they die.
