Does anyone make bikeracks for F-bodies

Just wondering? I've never really looked and the idea just popped into my head while i was moving my bike outa the way in the Garage this evening. There must be one that attaches to the hatch somehow? I love going to the bike trails in the summer and don't want to miss out on it this year cause i have a new car.

The trunk is probably big enough if you fold the back seat down...

If you get a receiver style trailer hitch, there are a lot of racks that slide into the receiver (as well as the obvious towing capability). Just make sure you get a 2" receiver without regard to towing rating. Getting accessories for a smaller receiver is a real pain.

I agree with Beast 4. Get a reciever hitch to haul the bikes. Although I disagree with the 2" reciever. It is too big for the back end of you car and you will never use the capacity. The 1 1/4 will be fine or even better is the Shadow mount. It takes a short and wide solid receiver that is much more attractive. I paid $114 including install for the Shadow mount on my Intrepid. I paid $50 at KMart for the bike rack and it works great. I also welded up a hitch rack to carry a large tote on wheels when we go to the beach.

For a hardtop car (no t-tops) I know Thule makes a system that will work, but it is expensive, like $250 for just the feet and the crossbars. A Thule rack can be made to carry just about anything from bikes to skis to canoes to cargo, though.
Yakima may have one that fits, but they aren't saying......

For All body styles, a good trunk mount rack, like a Rhode Gear ($80 for a good one) will work just fine as long as you don't have a huge wing. You will need to attatch the straps to the top of the rear glass, near the hinges. You may need longer straps...

I have a Rhode Gear that I use for bikes and skis/snowboards. I don't know if they still make the ski adapter kit, however.

Just found out Yakima makes a trunk rack adapter for glass hatchbacks (15) I may have to look in to this........

I agree that the load capacity of a 2" receiver is completely unecessary, however 2" allows the use of every hitch accessory known to man. I just wanted him to be aware how much more available 2" stuff is. I learned this the hard way on my S15 Jimmy.

Like I said:

A good quality trunk mount bike rack will fit on the rear hatch with a minimum of fiddling.

Save yourself a trailer hitch, go to a bike shop and ask for the RHODE GEAR racks. The guys will probably even help you test fit it before you buy it.

I have a Drawtite hitch on my 89 RS. And yes, I put a hitch on my Camaro. When the hurricane comes bearing down on the Florida Keys, I need to get my stuff outta here! I pull a small 5X8 trailer.
Plus it gives a great jacking point at the rear of the car. Ever try to get a floor jack under the rear of a lowered car? Plus the swaybar gets in the way.
Drawtite sells some bike racks to slide inside the 1 1/4 hitch.

Dredging this up.

I recommend the Hollywood Racks F1B. I can carry two bikes at a time with it. Cost me about 50 bucks at the time and it clears the spoiler with a quarter inch to spare.
