Pardon for asking, not a mechanical guy.....I have an 83 Grand Prix, with stock 2.41 gears. I wish to change my gears, possibly to a 3.23 or 3.42 posi, but was told I couldnt because my car doesnt have overdrive. I was told that probably when on the highway, my car would be winding to all hell. this sound right to you guys? Should I just stick with a lower gearset? Thanx in advance....

And why shouldnt I? Something wrong with a Grand Prix? Next time, save the wise a$$ comments pal. Im looking for serious help here, and bad enough people never seems to answer serious posts, when they do, gotta be from some jerkoff who thinks his car is fast......these kids make me laugh...

 

I think a 323 gear would work fine... even for a 1.1 ratio tranny. You would have a noticable improvement in 0-100 times. It wouldnt be that bad on the highway without overdrive either. I think at 60 you would be turing around 2600 rpms with a 323 gear.
