keep tbi or go to carb?
keep tbi or go to carb?
Well I kinda got myself kinda torn here so any guidance would be helpful. I have a 1990 Cadillac Brougham with the L05 and I'm getting ready to start building but some recent asking around has got me really confused. I was all about carb and didn't think a little tbi could do what I wanted but some sources are suggesting otherwise. I have vortec heads (guides machined and new spings installed), performer rpm intake, headers and full exhaust (already on car) and a 650cfm edelbrock carb. I'm getting ready to buy the comp xe262 cam so that gives you an idea of where I'm going here. This is my first experience with a fuel inj vehical and to tell the truth it isn't as scarey as I originally thought. I already did all the tbi mods and 9c1 injectors, with the exhaust and large cap hei vac adv dizzy (did that jus to try it)... I have to say it responded nicely. It also has the L35 torque converter and 3.73 gears... what a difference that made!..... I'm going for power and I didn't think a tbi set up would support a 325 hp engine (what I'm shooting for) but I'm beginning to think I'm wrong? This is a budget build and have been fortunate enough to find some really great second hand parts (junkyard finds). Can the tbi setup be built to support this thing and affordable? If so what do I need and what would it cost? Or do I jus go with the carb? Not aiming for fuel economy here, jus the best way to go.... and please don't rip on the fact that my car is kinda plus sized, big girls need love too lol... its all I got to do something with and its different.

Your best source for TBI performance information is the TBI forum.
I wouldn't use the words "Edelbrock" and "power" in the same paragraph, let along the same sentence. But, that's just my bias.
If all you're looking for is an engine dyno sheet showing 325 HP, either the TBI or Edelbrock can get you there.
