cold air induction

what is the best cold air induction? I am curious about the air induction product advertized on this web site as apposed to the other different cold air systems for third gens or even the dual snorkel air cleaner on the L69's, how does it rate?

I would say that arguably the best setup is the open air type setup. You can get a drop or non drop base kit for about $30....another $40 will get you a K&N filter. This is still cheaper than the new $75 price of the cold air induction kit, which by the way you could fabricate yourself way cheaper with the right parts

I see your point pukka but my aim isn't price rather than performance. Does the open air filter out perform the others?

You can get an open air kit at an auto parts store or an online site like summit or jegs. You will have to look at the archives on how to make a home made type induction setup.

Simple logic would show that an open air element filter will flow more air (360 degrees) than any type of induction system that flows air through a restricted filter assembly.

As for performance gains, slight at best. The understanding is that a mod like this will help setup other mods which combined will make a noticeable performance improvement. I will say this mod alone will definitely make your car SOUND better
