Aftermarket ineterior/exterior parts for 86 TA...

I'm in the process of fixing up a 1996 Trans Am. I've gotten catalogs for my previous 68 mustang for aftermarket seats, carpet, etc, but was wondering if there's a place that has a large selection of moldings, carpet, seats for my TA.

I'm new, so thanks for any help.

Which year is the car? You have 86 in the title and you have 96 in the message.

Dickson, TN. I have a 1986 TA with a blown 305 4 bbl. I had no problems with finding after market parts for a mustang, I was just wondering where I can find aftermarket parts for my new baby (86 TA).

Mainly body. I found a nose at keystone for around $240. But I'm still shy on finding dashpad, carpet, seats, etc. I've got the engine side covered, I just need help with body and interior.

Thanks

Dashpad, depends on if you want a new one or if used is O.K. then try e-bay, or the classifieds here.

Carpet, everyone here seems to like the ACC carpet. I got mine from www.1aautomotive.com About $200.00 for front and rear, or you can get just the front for a little cheaper.

Seats, I like my SPARCOs but It all depends on if you want factory seats or if you like aftermarket.

4th gen seats look good too.
Or you can get new covers for you'r orig. seats from one of the sponcers at the top of the page.
And get a 4th gen center console too.

Anything else??

I've been waiting a long time for this car.

Years ago, I had a 1983 trans am, white, gold diamond spoke wheeles, 86 wing, 5 spd, 3:42 Gear Posi, 350, etc.

I miss that car to this day.

Sorry to bug you with questions, but if that's your car Scott, is that a functioning ram air hood? If so, I'll look into that too.

Thanks a bunch.

Mine is not, It's from ASCD out of knoxville.( aprox $450 - $500 ) I did cut 2 holes in the hood on the inside to let the air flow straight through, but I have a carbed eng. with no air box. Suncoast creations dose make a simaler hood with the functional air box and all for around $895.00 looks a little diffrent though, HERE IT IS.
You can also get the Ram Air 2 hood with the air box from one of the sponcers I think.
I personally don't like where the air inlets are on the suncoast hood, and i think the RA2 hoods look to big and bulky.

compared to mine...

Well, keep in mind, this is the "before" pics.

I agree with you on the hood. I like yours better. I'll look into yours and see if I can't "rig" an induction from that setup later for mine.

I love your car.

I'm having the engine pulled out over the weekend. I plan on getting pics of the progress of my car. I'd like to keep in touch if it's okay. You did a great job on your car.

Thanks for all the information too.

A new dash pad can be gotten at http://www.paddockparts.com/ they are not cheap, you should be able to get a good one on ebay though.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum. Just bought a one owner 87 Trans Am about a month ago. 168k on the clock, needs lots of things, but that's what makes it a project, huh? Still runs decent and almost everything works.
I got a set of seats out of a 97. Ordered a console and radio pod from Hawk. Now I'm looking for carpet. So, ACC carpet is a good deal? How is the jute backing and the fit? I had been looking at ACS carpet from JC Whitney, but they're about $280 for a complete set.
Scott, your interior looks great. I was wondering if a 4th gen console would fit. Did you have any problems or have to fab any brackets? BTW, I live in Gray TN too.

The quality of ACC carpet looks really good. I haven't put it in the car yet I just got done striping the interior out before work today. I am going to weld the sfc in sat. So some time next week I can let you know how it fits. Some people complain about it and some love it. The best thing is it looks sooo good compaired to the old, even the old under things so it didn't get dirty and faded.

I agree the ASCD hood looks alot better. Do you think the functional kit for the RA I hood would work with the ASCD hood? If so that would be the sweetest setup.

As far as the quality itself of the ACC carpet is seems good. Colorwise and durability wise. However the fit in my car sucked something aweful. I ended up actualyl screwing my carpet up and I have to buy more. So that bites. I still have to do the rear area. Which I have the carpet for but haven't attempted. Mine was so bad that I don't want to attempt the second set of front carpet. I want to have a professional do it if I can find one.
