Don't Order headers from ACS

I ordered Hooker 2055 headers, with an additional O2 bung from ACS on 8/27/04. for $627. It was a debit card which deducted from my bank on 8/30/04. I was given an 18 "business" day lead time. After reading the posts on this board I knew they were slow but I wasn't in a hurry.
On 10/4/04 I called about my order. They said that they haven't got the headers in and that they might get some in the next couple weeks. They said it was a delay from Hooker. I cancelled my order because it has been over a month and they didn't even start working on the headers. I asked them to fax me a confirmation of the cancellation.
I called Jegs and they had the headers is stock. This only confirms that there's no major shortage of these headers.
On 10/8/04 there has been no credit for my cancelled order. I called ACS and was told that my credit was on the "list." Dave, the owner was obviously not available. They have had my money for over a month, and never ordered my headers. I hope I can get my money back.
Don't order from ACS and loose your money!

ACS is a joke to say the least. I cringe every time I hear about someone putting in an order with them. For some reason though, no matter how many complaints and bs people get from them, people continue to give them their money. Please people, I warn you, GO JETHOT!

Is there anything wrong with the headers themselves? I remember reading when they first started here, they were saying their coating was superior to JetHot's, but didn't go into any technical detail about what they use.

Well, JetHots coating kinda sucks, no matter what anyone says. I have seen some serious crap come out of their place.

My friend had ACS coat his headers and they came out very nicely. He didn't order through them, but sent his SLPs to them to coat. I thought their coating looked much better than some of the stuff coming out of JetHot.

No experience with their service, though.

that ur credit was on the 'list'....do they mean that you will get ur money whenever they get to it, or that u now have $627 worth of credit with them? If it is the latter i think u should get ahold of the Better Business Bureau. I odered my hooker headers on the 13th of Sept. I called about two weeks ago. They told me i would be recieving them within two weeks or less. I emailed Jimi a few minutes ago. If they aren't done then this is BS and im buying from summit. If i dont get my money back im getting ahold of the authorities that i need to.

Honestly, I think it's a classic case of an eager businessperson jumping in too soon. Maybe they should shut down for a while to sort things out with their materials and turnaround times... they could come back strong seeing as JetHot is pretty much their only competition here, but 9 times out of 10 a failing company will just give up and down goes the business.

hehe...that was me.

I've heard that JetHot performs well, but have seen TONS of people with crappy looking headers, and several people with peeling and cracking headers.

ACS was quick and easy to deal with. That's just my experience.

I have had my Jet Hot coated hooker 2460s on my formula for over a year and look just as good as out of the box. go with Jet Hot don't trust startup companies like ACS. Think they may be related to Thirdgen Resource / Fbody Motorsports?

I know tons of satisfied jethot customer's, I'm just saying that even the all might Jethot isn't all it's cracked up to be.

im not related to them or anything but i have heard alot of bad things about acs my friend had a problem ordering headers from them. Jet Hot turned around my header order in about a week when i ordered the headers from them, and if you ask they even give you a TGO discount. they also split the cost in 2 payments over 2 months which makes it easier on the wallet. They just were very good by me thats all i was trying to say.

I don't know about Jethot or ACS but another company to think about is Air born Coatings. I had my headers coated in/out by them 4+ years ago. One of their places is located here in Charlotte so I was able to just drop them by one day and 2 days later was able to pick them up. Got to inspect them and everything before I payed. I don't know if they do coatings for any major parts company but when I was there, there were tons of boxes stacked with the same headers, manifolds etc.... They were a little higher $$$$ but my headers still look awsome like new after all this time even where I accidentally scratched the crap out of them and where the lower pipes were welded. So another company to think about, have 3 locations around the US http://www.airborn.cc/customer/index3.html

It seems to me in reading alot of posts about ACS that they do better when you send them your headers to have them coated. If you buy the headers from them they never seem to have them in stock. Also, I think it is illegal for a company to charge you for a product that hasn't been shipped yet or for work they aren't planning to do for several weeks. That's just if you ask me. LB87, when you ordered the headers did you ask them if they were in stock?

I needed a set of 2064's for my 95Z28. I asked them in a post here on TGO if they had them. They said no. I finally was able to get a price for their coating. I also checked around with Jeg's and Summit etc. etc. and found out that the 2064's were all on back order from Hooker for several weeks. It took me three weeks to get them from Summit. They never charged my CC until they were shipping them out. Had I bought the 2064's straight from ACS, I would probably still be waiting for them...
