anyone know what FBodyCD is all about?
just noticed the new sponsor link. Did a search and came up with only 2 posts. One of them said they used to be our sponsor but then they got removed. Anyone know why?
As I understand it, for 22 bucks you get all detailed diagrams of every assembly in your car. If that is true, that's actually a pretty good thing, I would think? Is there a catch? Has anyone bought these? are they as good as my guess is they are?

The three-views on this CD appear to be the same ones GM dealers bring up on the computer screens at parts department.
Some people object to someone making money selling what appears to be a GM copyrighted product, instead of simply giving it away.
Others might be irked 'cause they spent a lot more money to buy microfiche sets and hardware to get the 3-views ... instead of only putting out chump-change for a computer-ready resource.
Some time ago I bought one of these CDs and I use it all the time. It is much more convenient than hard-copy pages. The seller stated permission to use the images was granted by GM. Personnally, I don't know if this is true and I don't care -- it's a great tool at a reasonable price.
Whomever assembled the data on the disk organized everything really well and the quality of the images is very high, lending them to being imported into other applications such as PhotoShop and PowerPoint for making tech articles.
Nice to see FBodyCD back online again, everyone should buy one of those!

Great product. I bought the Camaro one when it first came out,Becuase there wasn't a Firebird one available. Now I have both.
Dont need the Camaro disk so I am selling it for 12 bucks shipped,if anybody wants it let me know.
PS I already told Mike at FBODYCD that I was selling it, He said it was ok. Once again great product.
Cd has been sold. Thanks

i havent ordered on because It has to be able to play cd-r's which in my head says this is bootlegged. I think someone should investigate, or he should go through the proper steps to get GM's permission. And as far as being non profit? $22 for a cd-r? right
it is not bootleg because info is public and free. What they do is sell it to you in nice format. It is like people selling T56 rebuild manuals for $6 in printed form when anyone can go download the same manual for free and print it themselves.
You are only paying for convenience of not having to collect the pictures and burn the CD yourself if you are planning on using the CD. For example I have a laptop that I take to the garage, but no internet, so that CD is nice.
Did anyone find anything similar to this for 4th gens? I'd love to get my hands on one of those as well.

Back from the DEAD!
Finally order'd my 2nd cd. I've had the Camaro Edition for a very long time and I finally got around to getting the Firebird. It wasn't out when I first bought the Camaro Edition. Well worth the money. I found the PN for the RH deflector I've been looking for all over this site in about 5 minutes time counting taking the cd out of the package. That purchase alone from GM Parts Direct will cover the cost of the cd, since my dealership loves charging me high shipping prices.

Absolutely, Positively outstanding service.
The cd was shipped same day it was ordered and arrived seven days later in Canada, considering our postal service thats quite an accomplishment.
After a brief look at the cd I'm sure it will be invaluable to anybody doing a serios restoration.
Last words...Buy It.

i retract my previous statement. I ordered the cd and it has become an invaluable tool to my full blown restoration of my car. Even though I have wireless internet in the garage, it just makes everything a lot faster. Especially since the website went down...... it's already won me quite a few arguments with the local dealership guys that alone makes it worth it, making the other guy feel like a dick

No. The HELMS manual doesn't have the part numbers. What it IS is the GM 1982-91 Chevrolet F Parts and Illustration Catalog that has been scanned and burned onto a CD-R. I have a print copy of the 1982-92 Chevrolet F P&I Catalog (fills 3 big 3-ring binders) on my book case. I also bought the same on microfiche for 1982-92 and 1993-2002 Camaro and Firebird. I'm sure that the CD-R is an invaluable tool and a LOT easier to scan and gather info than searching on a microfiche. I just have a big problem with someone profiting from another companies copywritten material. GM should make this information available but doesn't. They supplied the information to their dealerships in both printed form and microfiche. Knowing the part numbers is worth a lot, since it allows you to buy the parts online from your source of choice avoiding the dealership parts counter. The problem (besides copyright infringement) is that you won't be aware if a particular part number is superceded.

True, no part numbers. Part numbers are easy to get with a call to a local dealer as long as you can describe what you are looking for. Can anyone vouch that the Fbody CD goes into as much detail about the 91 Firebird as it does about the Camaro? Thanks

soulbounder: I'll look for you in the next few days and get back to you on that.
As for the copy writed information. Mike emailed me awhile back and said:
"As for the legal disclaimer....it was specifically geared for the
published website, and I am only using partial content for demonstration purposes (fair use). The web interface and all the graphics were created by me. At first, I was not going to sell the CD, and it took almost a year for the GM representative to contact me after I sent in my request to reproduce the catalog information... but after finding out how much it costs each year, I had to start selling the CD to make back the costs. Each catalog costs over $600 a year to license. Anyway... probably more info that you wanted to know."

soulbounder: The cd provides details of the 91 and 92 firebird years. Most of the 91 years have both the 1st Des (design?) and 2nd Des on them. So yes it shows the difference in the years with extra pages quiet well.

Best F Body resource CD you can buy and for the price it's a steal. Have both Camaro and Firebird CD's wouldn't want to go through life without them.....I Highly Recomend these CD's even if you don't own an F Body.

all i did was send him money thru paypal and i got my cd within a week
Well, I'm not real fond of sending someone money that I have no other way to contact except email, especially when emails go unanswered. He lists no other contact method on his website.

Just to add, I purchased the Firebird cd from Fbody CD and it arrived today. Talk about a load of parts fun. I've only brushed the surface on a few unknown parts, but I highly recommend this CD. Ordered it Sunday night and got it today, priority mail.
