Ya, two of the wires have to be swapped in each others spot. Use the diagram I posted to make sure it's right.

That harness is nice, even works with the inner set lights. I would def get that if I still used Halogen bulbs.

Are you to lazy to search eBay? Or search the guy's listings to see if he sells them too? Do you want one of us to do that for you?

you can't read can you. I said I didn't find them. not that I didn't search. they could be under a different name then what I was looking for etc. I never saw ANYONE in here ask about or post about sidemarkers so I asked if they same place makes them. Isn't this site about help and info about our cars? Don't get all pissy and treat me like a child because someone asked a question. Thats what this site is for. I am not trying to come off a a **** or anything just saying I wanted to know about sidemarkers since no one asked because I want everything to match perfectly for my car.

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

K guys im back, i got my matrix harness yesterday and went outside to do a test install to see if everything works.

I hooked everything up correctly im sure. Power, grounds, pluged into stock harness and then the black boxes(Forgot what there called). I connected to the stock wireing with the adapter i got with the lights.

I turned my lights on, they were nice and brite. I then turned the brites on and it completely turns out the headlights.

Anybody Know were I should start looking for my problem?

That's weird. You did plug the bulbs directly to the new harness and didn't use the adaptors correct? Also make sure the relay is plugged in good

I just reread what you wrote, you don't need the adaptors that came with the lights, that's probally your problem. There is a spot on the matrix harness that plugs into one of the old light sockets and then tape off the other stock sockets your not gonna use them, then plug in the bulbs directly to the matrix harness.

Kool thanks man, I'll give that a try tomorrow when I hook them back up.

Atleast anyone buying these headlights shouldn't need to make any new posts. I think we've covered most of the problems in this one. lol

To bad all the info has already been posted before.

Anyways, double check your wiring

See how they are different (top and middle pic)? The adapters I bought, I had to move the wires around.

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

I did my H4 headlight upgrade this past weekend. The A1C universal upgrade harness was not the greatest product, and I added an extra ground and two fuse links next to the two relays. The difference in light brightness is phenominal. I used a set of Pilot housings for the high-beams, and a set of the 'City Lights' housings on the lows. I actually liked the BMW halo style with my black paint. However; after about a half hour, the glass lens on the lowbeams shattered within a few seconds of each other.

I got the city housings from another member and don't know the manufacturer. They looked to be as well built as the Pilot set, and I'm a bit nervous to replace them if something screwed up in the wiring process. I'll have to aquire some feedback for solving this issue.

I'm glad now that I didn't just stick the H4's in without modifying the harness, adding an extra ground, the fuses, and the better H4 bulbs. I would suggest that others use a top grade harness adapter and not cut corners. Nitro-Nicky

I noticed on my low beam outside light on the driverside that the green wire(power?) Seems to have been damaged and is somewhat corroded and a couple broken wires.

Would that kit I posted work? Would I have to add anything if I bought it?

green is ground

Update: Plugged the pigtails in to see if they worked. They did, until I flicked on the high beams. After a minute they started strobing lol.

Looks like I'll be buying one of those matrix kits. Overall, it is a 100% awesome upgrade, especially with the side markers and bumper lenses. Couldn't be happier!!!

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

Well I am glad I read this from front to back. I bought the projector headlights over the winter and just installed them 2 weeks ago. I havent driven the car yet thank god, or I would have run into some serious issues at night. I hooked mine straight up no adapters. I tested them for 30 seconds and everything was fine. Looks like another 30 seconds and they would have started strobing.

One question for those stating the H4 bulbs that come with these lights suck. What bulb are you using now? I am looking for a good recomendation to replace these at the same time I order the Matrix Harness.

Thanks!

u ordered these?:

cuz they are not projectors. dont let the add fool you.

a projector is a fully enclosed housing with the lens on it..not a clear headlight with a glass circle thrown in the middle.

Yeah... Those are the ones I ordered...

I was just referencing them as the "Projectors" I know they are't real projectors...

I ordered the harness anywyas and will try out these bulbs for now and replace them down the road. I found some Hella bulbs on Summit's site that seemed ok. Anyone tried those out?

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

ive got them in my 85 camaro, the ones with the halos around them. dont have time for pictures but they look good. one set back to them is that you have to take a dremle and cut the metal cup they sit in because the boots on the back are a couple inches rounder then the holes for regular replaceable lamps. worth it. hell of a deal too. plust it lets you use brighter bulbs then ones you can get with the star lamps. look better.

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

I bought the black background projector headlights from gforceusa on ebay and a week after having them the projector lense fell off. Not to mention they dont shine at all. I called customer service and the guy told me to take the casing apart and reglue it. i told him I'm not going to buy a product just so i can fix the mistakes the manufacturer made. I swear this lense has hot glue holding it together. the glu was melted in the bottom of the lense.

I knew thery werent projector lights when I bought them so thats not the issue. I liked them because they were black. i didnt seperate the lense I'm shipping that crap back to the people I bought it from. The guy on the phone told me to stick them in the microwave or use a heat gun to seperate the lense. I was like ok hes got to be kidding me.

Yeah I had to do the same thing. I cut the tabs out and then rounded the left side of the buckets out a little and they squezed right in there. Dremel worked pretty good using the cutting disks. I like the look also. I am hoping I dont have the issues that rs camaro92 is having.

BTW rs camaro92 - Did you have the upgraded harness (Matrix or Painless) to support the H4 bulbs, or just a direct connect?

So far I am impressed with this setup as far as looks and brightness with the wanna be projectors, silverstar high beams, and the upgrade harness.

Krisb410 - Thanks for the diagram! - I had to pop out the connectors and switch them around on the low beam conenctor where the Matrix harness connects to the stock connector. That worked great!!! Otherwise when I turned on the lights, nothing came on, and then when I turned on the brights everything came on... After switching just those 2 wires in the stock cononector, everything works as it should!

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

yes i changed the harness so its not that. Its the black background not chrome so there is no reflecting at all. you have the chrome ones which yeah they probably look good. Oh and i aslo have the silverstars installed. I used to have the normal upgrade chrome background H4 bulbs housings without the projector and those were fine, I've had those for 2 years now with no problem, but I like the look of the black background of these projector lights but they are no good for the streets. I'll show you a pic.

i've had these black lens installed for about a year with no probs. I can see clearly at night with them as well. I did however change out the blue bulbs that were in them and replaced them with clear ones. No too mention i'm running H1 and H4 bulbs in mine. I modified the factory harness to support H1's for the low beams and switched the wires around for the high beams. No problems since... I also picked up a set of blacked out side markers. I shove a pic in after I get a chance to clean it up some more...

I know the bulbs turn on and shine but you cant say there as bright as the chrome background. Have you had any issues with the projector piece thats in the housing?

I had those on my car which I may switch back. You just need a harness with a larger gauge wire because these cars back in the day had very small wire installed due to the old glass bulbs didnt need alot of current. Dont go pay 20 or 40 bucks for something you dont have to.

You can go to Oreilly's they have H4 hookups for like 3 bucks a piece or autozone.

no problem. Now if your installing HID lights I just found out you need to order a relay kit because the wires are too small to carry current to both HID's so the relay makes up for it.

Yeah thats what I was unsure about.
When I bought the panel an lights off the kid he said that it started to melt his stock connectors after awhile. I'm just gunna use the bulbs that came with it for now..the H4's. An I read everyone talking about the Matrix kit coming with the relays. I just wasnt certain if there was a connector to run from the bulb right into the stock harness without any modifcation.(not very good with electrical)

I dunno I installed the H4 connections from oriellys and they work just fine. I've had them for 2 years. If you do see the connections start to warp than yeah you may need to buy which ever kit you were talkin about.

Dude, your actually way off.

HIDs use less power than the stock sealed beams.
You need the relay harness if you are using H4 bulbs.

There's a great write up on how to make your own harness in the tech articles!!!

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

Boy those lights look good and for 85 bucks thats a bargain.

You DEF need the adapters, I got a CHEAP set and didnt use the adapters and after an hour the highbeams stay one(very dim tho) the low beams arnt even bright enough to shine on the road in the dark to see anything, and half my dash is FOOKED up when I turn my lights on.

When I turn my lights on the right half of my dash...batt rpm oil gauges all just float around and the right turn signal indicater stays on(the actual turn signal isnt on tho).

I wired them up differently (basically a homemade wire adapter) and same thing. Put in stock bulbs with stock wiring and same thing.
SO my point is get the adapters guys and dont get the cheap kits on ebay because I had to cut my housings to make them fit.

That whole experience is making me really look into getting a set of these tho!

Yeah I love the look of them. I picked all 4 with the headlight panel/2 Fenders/and a blower motor for 50 bucks. Had no idea those lights ran so much so I was pleased I made out good. But from what I'm reading I think i'll go with the Matrix or try an rig one up myself. Thanks for the tips guys! Very much appreciated and VERY happy I found this site. Keeps those headaches away!

oh ok well i called the company that makes them and thats what they told me but you both are telling me I need the relay which is fine I already have the kit on order so I should have my kit in by the end of the week. I hooked them up today and only the passenger side would lite up. I tested all the components from the driver side on the passenger side and they worked fine so thats why I called them. So yeah the relay kits on the way and more than likely I'll remove these fake projectors and install my original H4 setup like chevy350, there way brighter anyways.

I also had problems with the lights working right. I had to re-do a few pins in the adapters they provided. It looks like now its going to work.
how are the lighting are they better than stock and are you using the bulbs that came with the kit

Re: 82-92 CHEVY CAMARO CRYSTAL Headlights w/Adapter (Ebay seller 2004momo)

ok, in the beginning of the thread, i thought i understood everything, but now that we are talking about different kinds of lights and such, i am confused.

to make this system work:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-...ayphotohosting

i will need this:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

and what else.

the headlights come with adapters, so i should be OK
and the matrix harness is cheap insurance
anything else?
also, i may look into brighter better bulbs in the future
which ones are good?

I do think the ebay seller should list that these might be to much for the cars wiring.
Where you get the h4 harness
