Classic Industries, finally an affordable Power Window Switch

I've been wanting to replace my faded and ugly window switches for years. And after deciding I didn't want to pay hundreds for a pair of NOS OEM switches, I decided an aftermarket pair would do. 70 bucks seemed to be the cheapest for a pair on ebay. Then I happened to look on Classic Industries website, and found 84-89 repros for 19.99 a piece. I thought wow, too good to be true. So I ordered a pair, and with the Easter promo, saved 8 bucks, so they ended up costing only 15.99 each. They arrived a few days later and were dead ringers for OEM. Fit and finish could not have been better. Now if they would come out with a hatch button, all would be right in the world.

Man, I hope so... So many parts they've had in the past have disappeared (full quarter panels, for one), and I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs parts nobody has...

I bought new ones from the dealer for 30 something dollars like a little over a year ago...I guess they recently stopped producing them?

You got lucky man, parts for 3rd gens have been out of production for at least 10 years. Whoever sold them to you sold them cheap. Check around, you can't touch GM switches for less than 60.00 a piece at the cheapest

Re: Classic Industries, finally an affordable Power Window Switch

Nice! I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a after market sticker, like the one norcalz28 have right above window switches, that reads (automatic overdrive) always wondered what was supposed to be there. I am sure his is factory, but i would like to have a decent one that is made well.
thanks.

I didn't realize either that PW switches had become scarce and expensive. I converted my car from manual windows to power probably about 7 or 8 years ago, and I bought new switches from the dealership. Think I spent around 25 bucks for a pair of them. Guess that would explain why so many jerks at the junkyard destroy the whole top plate of otherwise good consoles just to get the friggin window switches out. Easy money to be made on Ebay I guess. The white, printed window logo is just now starting to disappear on my switches.

I'm kicking myself for not doing the same thing, According to my local dealer there are 3 left in the country in some dealer in NY but they want ~$50 each for them

How close are these to working in a 91 TA?

They should work just fine in a TA. Only problem is the color would be wrong since TA switches are usually gray, and Camaro switches are black. Fit and dimensions are the same though.

I bought this corvette hatch switch,10210771, the picture is a little generic, now the f-body profile like stock, but the switch itself is identical, and I just cut the end off and crimped it onto the stock wires. Works like a charm, and was half the price of the "camaro" switch.

I snagged my hatch switch out of a old 90' Caprice. looks close enough and plugs right in.

Just got the new window switches from Classic Industries, they look 100% OEM. I can post some pictures if anyone is interested.

Man I don't blame ya for going that route. I was kinda shocked when I saw the price for our hatch switch. Just like the PW switches, I never thought the stupid little hatch switch would be an expensive item to replace! Knock on my wooden head, my original switch still looks and functions good though.

Bought two from them and they both worked. The only problem is with one it would stick. Either going all the way up or all the way down. The other one worked just fine.

Now if they only came in yellow print!

Guess the printing on the hatch switch looked different on the earlier models, the little pic of the car with the trunk open looks like a 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird on my 90.
