Buyer Beware: Youngs F-Body Motorsports

I recently purchased a replacement aero-wing rear spoiler for my 87 Formula from Youngs F-Body Motor Sports. Everything started out good, they seemed very helpfull and willing to go out of their way for me. Well, things went down hill fast once I received the spoiler. I removed it from the box only to find it cracked (where the third tail light mounted). I immediatly called and was ask "what my body man thought about the crack". I told them I didn't have a body man. As I was under the assumption that it would only have to be painted and installed not repaired and installed. I was told that this wasn't the first spoiler they had had problems with. I sent a picture and was told to get an estimate on the repair. Well I figured I had better see how it fit on the car. I removed my old spoiler only to find that this spoiler didn't come close to fitting correctly. It didn't sit flat or flush on the car and when I was trying to get it to fit on the glass mounts I find another crack in the corner. I took it to a couple body shops and found out it needed so much work and modification to make it fit correctly and with no guarantee it wouldn't crack again. At this point I just decided better to retun it. They did return the purchase price but refused to return the shipping charge $125. I wouldn't have expected to get the shipping back if the product wasn't defective. The add on their web-sit says "won't CRACK or warp like the original". Didn't say anything about having to custom fit. Well buyer beware!

A little to late unfortunately for you, but if you inspect prior to acceptance any damage is the fault of the shipper. That is standard practice and anyone who advises you otherwise is full of excrement.

For any future buyers, if you receive and then inspect......the problems begin.

Hawks used to advise to inspect prior to receipt, and I'm sure that Bruce will chime in.

Re: Buyer Beware: Youngs F-Body Motorsports

I can understand the checking it before you take delivery. But, if its that fragile then it should be packaged better and maybe insurance should be put on it. The box wasn't damaged anywhere near where the spoiler was cracked. I believe that this spoiler wasn't inspected before it left. I think they picked it up at their supplier and shipped it in the same box they got it in. Also like I mentioned the fit was not even close. When I sat it on the car with the third tail light in place there was 1/4"on both sides where it is bolted down. Unfortunately the fit and quality was just terrible. That's why I believe that the shipping should be refunded. If I had just changed my mind I would expect not to get it back. But, you are correct lesson learned!

Re: Buyer Beware: Youngs F-Body Motorsports

I put some instructions together for an aerowing from Hawk's that I installed on my '88 GTA. If you would like, PM me and I can send them to you, which might help with your install. Hopefully that might help with your fitment. The main thing to do is to fit from back to front.

Best regards,

Gary.

I know this is an old post but you wouldn't happen to still have those instructions would you?
